D'Oh!

Well, I should be careful what I ask for....

I was late for a meeting at my office today, and came in... peeked at the notes of my coworker next to me to see what they discussed so far, and see this:

March 18th - Liza's shower

So, I'm thinking its an office shower, how sweet, and after the meeting, look at my calendar, and see the 18th is a Sunday



which means this is THE shower - the one where everyone is invited to... and my surprise was ruined

So what do I do? I call my husband practically crying because I felt so upset and guilty knowing, knowing he worked so hard to plan this for me. He was annoyed and amused at the same time, and now I think he is working on rescheduling the date... He is friends with one of the women that I work with, and I know they are planning this together, as they did my bridal shower, which was a total surprise....

I am so upset right now. I know its hormones, but as much as I thought I wanted to know, it breaks my heart that a surprise my husband was working on was ruined. And I'm an awful liar and he would have known I knew right away, and I would have broken down and told him from now until then... probably hysterical crying because thats where I have been lately with everything....

Want to know something hysterical? The SAME thing just happened to me, but with the place, not the date. This is the email my SIL just sent me:

I got the ADORABLE invite yesterday. Your Mom put BYOB on the back -
Bring your Own Baby. I am so sorry that I can't come to the shower! I
wish I could cut that business trip short, but the 14th is actually one
of the more important days of that trip. Which is stinky. I bet your
Mom
and C are planning a great baby shower. BOO, I wish I could go! You
will
see something from the Baltimore Devines there, though. Is it at
Michelles house?

So, that tells me where it is!!

I won't tell my mom and sister tho b/c they will flip and get stressed out about it (and hear me complain b/c Michele, my cousin, lives 2 hours away from me)

Awwwwwww...Sorry your surprise was ruined.


It happens and sometimes out of your control.

Either way, you knew it was coming so you can be really thankful and happy that your amazing DH did this all for you.
I think that is the sweetest thing ever that he has put this together

Wow! What are the chances?

See, if you were a good liar, you could have acted clueless to the whole thing. I'm sure he understands, it was a harmless mistake! If he doesn't reschedule it, a lot of the details and who comes is going to be a surprise still. Just don't ask for any more details now!

It surprises me how anybody has a surprise shower with all the slip-ups. Is it possible she wrote it down in hopes you'd see it? I actually did this to a friend of mine to throw her off!!!!

Nope - not this girl.... She is pretty naive and clueless herself half the time - otherwise she would have hidden the notes when coming in and sitting next to her...

The same thing happened to me with my bridal shower at work. They always run off flyers and put them in the teacher's mailboxes upside down. Of course, all except the actual bride or mom-to-be

Someone was delegated the task of distributing them and put one in my mailbox DUH!!

The wonderful ladies who were planning it were so They worked so hard on planning the shower and one was like a second mom to me. No one ever owned up to doing it, I guess they were too embarassed.

aw, it will still be special, even if you know the date! i know the date of mine, but not the place. i had to be in control of the date a little so i promised to not need/want to know any other details. truthfully, i'm dying to know! hahaha. i hate surprises!!! [and yes, i'm one of the ones waiting until the birht to find out the sex of my child...i contradict myself a lot]
