Ketones

Girls with GD, are you testing your first morning urine for Ketones? This is what I have to do every morning. It's like I'm doing a pregnancy test the way I stand over this damn stick and wait for the results.

no but one of the other girls is doing this, this is the first i heard... what is going on my speicalist said i was fine and my fasting numbers are 2 points higher.... i am sooooo confused right now...

Nicole what place are you going to for counseling? I go to the maternal and fetal medicine center for diabetes in pregnancy for NS Manhassett. It's so funny how every place has different rules. One of the doctors I work with was not concerned at all with my numbers. In fact, she said if I was pregnant last year this would not be an issue because the number "guideline" was higher. Go figure.

I think you test for ketones depending upon what your blood sugar numbers are at what time of day- i never had to test for ketones b/c i was able to montior all of my levels-morning, noon & night, with a proper diet...
some, like Jenhos, have problems with morning sugars, some have problems with after eating sugars- everyone is different, that is why everyone has different directions as to how to best handle their GD.

See, everyone in my class was told to test there urine for ketones only in the morning with first morning urine. They never even knew what our levels were throughout the day. It's funny how every place really does have different rules.
