CHASE for life

I saw this article in Westchester Family magazine, I think it was reprinted from a Parent or Parenting magazine about a mom that started an organization/website about how important it is to know CPR and first aid for kids. Her youngest daughter almost drowned but the father - who along with the mom went to CPR classes before the birth of their oldest girl - was able to save his daughter because he knew CPR. I am going to find classes for DH and I to take now that Liam is starting to eat solids and will be crawling and walking in no time. The mom said she knew new moms had to watch a "shaken baby" video before leaving the hospital but no one had to watch one about how to give CPR or the Heimleich (sp) to babies - she started a campaign and now it's shown in some hospitals in NJ. It's a great idea, it should be shown in all hospitals.

But the website is good, I believe the video is on there but I didn't see it but I did download the posters and brochures and will have them on the fridge at the house.

Since I have been certified in CPR since I was 15, I always knew I'd want my husband to know it too. I can't tell you the amount of stories I have had to cover where the parent didn't know how to help their child at all. They tell you to remain neutral when covering news stories, but when it involves a child I lose it.

Before we TTC, my husband went for his first CPR certification, without telling me. We will be taking the infant class together as we get closer. I hope everybody does.

We're definitely going to take classes too, and make sure we go for refresher courses too!

We are both taking an Infant CPR class. It is soooo important to know.
