Space between top of fridege and cabinet

We are getting our entire kitchen redone and we are having the cabinets installed right now.
So far I have a fridge that slides next to and below cabinets but there is a space between the fridge and the cabinets above it -----what goes there? do you paint it like the rest of the wall color? is there a cabinet wall/backsplash that matches the color of the cabinets?
Pictures would be great . thanks

Re: Space between top of fridege and cabinet

How much space? If it's only a few inches, I would probably just leave it. About 4 or 5 inches, I would probably try to find a wood filler piece to make it look more custom-fit, but still easily allow for a bigger fridge in the future. More than 6 inches, I would probably store stuff there. Our fridge fits pretty snug (an inch or less gap), so we obviously didn't do anything with ours.

Re: Space between top of fridege and cabinet

It is a good 5-6 inches between the fridge and bottom of the cabinet set above the fridge. I am trying to decide to just paint it or have the place where I bought the cabinets make a peice of wood molding that would match the cabinets and then would enclose the fridge in better. I was just hoping to see pictures of it both ways before I made a decision but I cant find anything when I search the internet.

I just had my kitchen redone. My kitchen place said over a certain amount it is standard that they put molding to fill the space. 5-6 sounds like a lot and I would fill. I had less than that and they added the molding and it looks nice.

You can get longer cabinets above the frig. The cabinets above our frig will be 27" high but they come in 12", 15", 18", 21", 23.5" & 30". And then add a piece of filler or molding as suggested above to get a built-in look
