My husband feels the same way. He doesn't want to officially name the baby until he sees him.
It's hard bc you are trying to honor someone with the name. If it means that much to you then maybe that should be the name you go with. That's a tough one!!!

we were torn too with both pg's!
We went for the namesake, it meant more to us.
Gianna Nicole-Gianna is john in italian and that is my FIL's, brother, great grandfather and my uncle's name. Nicole is my cousin's name who has a genetic blood disease
My #2 daughter will be Amelia Francesca=Amelia is my DH's deceased grandmother, Francesca=is my deceased grandmother and means Frank in Italian, which is my Dh's name, my father's name and DH's deceased grandfather who he's named after.
To us the meaning behind it meant more, that's how we decided.
