Girls with GD
Are you all losing weight on the GD diet/meal plan?
I have to take the 3 hour test on Tuesday morning, my doctor says that I was only 10 points above the "optimal" number but she wants me to take the 3 hour as a precaution.
I think I have been reading that everyone is losing weight after they have been diagnosed nad that makes me nervous, I am 29 weeks, 4 days and have only gained 8lbs total and am still down 5lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I still struggle with m/s, so I am nervous that if I have GD, I will be losing weight I can't afford to lose.
My mind is running away from me a little bit, but what IS the diet?

I think that some lose weight because you aren't taking in all those carbs and sugar and are eating more protein. I had my three hour on Friday and I didn't eat carbs or junk all week and I lost a couple of pounds. I think that sono's are more frequent when you have a GD diagnosis, so I'm sure the doctor would be able to tell you if the baby wasn't getting big enough.
Hopefull you pass though and it won't be an issue!!

Re: Girls with GD
I failed my 3 hour by 7 points, went on a diabetic meal plan for 3 weeks my morning numbers were still high ranging from 94 to 114 so I had to take insulin shots, 1 before dinner and 1 before bedtime, that was the only thing that made my fasting number normal! my breakfast lunch and dinner numbers were always below 120 but my morning number PIA was always above the normal range 60-90 and I would exercise after dinner, keep low carbs at dinner nothing worked. yes you may lose weight but the difference is you are healthy and so will the baby! and yes you get more sono's to check the babys weight as well. Dont worry the meal plan really isnt that bad, its having to take shots and pricking yourself that suck!!!!
