Asthma Anyone?
So around Christmas Time, I ended up with Bronchitis - I went back to the DR 3 times because it kept relapsing. I was really sick.
So this past week, I started having the same breathing issues that I had with the bronchitis, minus the coughing and sneezing and sore throat.
So I went to my DR yesterday and he thinks I may have developed asthma. He gave me Asmanex and another inhaler that I can take if I feel short of breath called Pro Air HFA.
Does anyone has asthma? Does anyone take these inhalers?
I just hate this feeling of shortness of breathe and a tight chest.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I;ve never taken either of those meds.
I've taken various rescue inhalers. Right now I have albuterol and combivent as recue inhalers, and because I have allergic asthma, I take singulair, zyrtec, and I try to take care of my allergies.
If you think you do have ashtma you should go to a specialist. My allergist in Wantagh is really great and he can help you with ashtma. It's really important to figure out what your triggers are and how to avoid them.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I am on the Pro Air HFA. It's supposed to be a lot healthier than the regular albuterol. If you need an asthma doctor, I have a great one in Ronkonkoma.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I take Pro Air HFA for rescue but with the combination of maintenance drugs Singulair and Advair I have been attack and hospital free for 6 years That is HUGE for me because since Im 13 I was hospitalized at least 2 times a year. It's a frustrating disorder but your first course of action should be to find out your triggers. Good luck

Re: Asthma Anyone?
You should see a specialist.
I take singulair, and a regular allergy med (Claratin works best for me) which controls my asthma very well - If I DON'T take that singulair though, I feel awful

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I was recently diagnosed with allergic Asthma and was put on Singulair. It has made a huge difference in how I feel. also I quit smoking and I'm sure that helped too

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I have asthma and have taken inhalers similar to ones you were prescribed. I do suggest seeing a specialist and getting allergy tested. Otherwise, finding the right combination of rescue and maintenance medication should keep you problem free.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
Yup, I have asthma too. Like some others, I take Singulair and Claritan religiously. In the fall and spring I also take Advair (form of inhaler). I have my albuteral inhaler for emergencies, but if I take my medicine consistently and regularly, I'm usually good.
I, too, have been to an allergist for my asthma and for regular allergies. My doctors name is Dr. Gerardi, and he has offices in Plainview and West Babylon.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
I have been diagnosed with mild asthma, mostly excersized induced. I don't take anything right now, I was spending $100/mo on meds I couldn't stand it. Everyonce in awhile I get some tightness but nothing major.

I got a lot of help from my pulmonologist- though I have allergies they tend to affect my nose and eyes.
I am on Advair, which is a combo of Serevent and a steroid. I've had over three really good years since going on the Advair. Prior to that, I'd had many visits to the ER and was admitted three times. I also used to get a lot of upper respiratory infections.

Re: Asthma Anyone?
i always have an albuterol inhaler with me at all times. my asthma gets worse during allergy season so then my doctor gives me Serevent which is more long lasting.
