Nuchal Tanslucency today!!!! See pic
We went for the Nuchal Transluceny today. We saw our little peanut turn a somersault and wiggling away. All of a sudden s/he started sucking his/her thumb. So cute! It made me cry. Dr. said everything looked normal and we have a very active baby.

I have a first cousin with downs so the doctor suggested this test. It is a sonogram where they measure the skin on the back of the baby's neck and draw blood from me now and again in week 15 or 16. They analyze certain things and let us know if there are risks of any abnormalities.

I remember going for this at 12 weeks - I could NOT believe how much of a baby they look like at that age! Ours was spinning and tuning too - and sucking its thumb - sooo amazing! I was extra floored because the only time I saw the baby before that was at 7 wks when it was really just a little heartbeat!!!

Just a quick question for you also...something that has been really confusing me lately - is that second test that is done a few weeks later part of the ultrascreen or a separate test - like can you get results from the ultrascreen and opt not to take the other test or is it all part of the same test? TIA

I think you can do a first trimester only or an integrated first and second trimester. My Dr. recommended the integrated.
