Placement of Crib and heaters

I had 2 options in my mind of how to lay out the nursery, but just realized last night that both walls that I wanted to put the crib on have baseboard heaters running almost the full lengths (the heaters don't run under the windows on those walls). I was reading more about SIDS awareness, and they said one of the 10 things to be cautious of is baby's room getting too warm, but they didn't mention specifically about placing cribs along heaters.

Anyone have any feelings on this? Are you placing your cribs by the heaters? I know there probably isn't that big of a difference, since the room isn't huge, and cribs are higher than the heaters, but I still worry! Chat Icon

Re: Placement of Crib and heaters

its not the placement of the heaters that SIDS research cautions to be aware of, they say the room should be kept at around 68 degrees, not to much warmer.

That's kind of what I figured, since they didn't mention anything about placement of the heaters & crib...I thought it was the general temp of the room, but I wanted to make sure. THANKS! Chat Icon

Re: Placement of Crib and heaters

Well since all of my walls in the nursery have baseboard (the previous owner did this, not me...) we will have to have the crib on a wall with the heat. I can shut it off in sections though, and that room gets sweltering hot so I think we will eventually just shut then down from the pipes under the floor....
