Lets talk about clothing sizes......
DD is 16 months and is wearing a 2t......so if I was looking to buy some clothes for the summer should I buy 3t.......that seems so big to me. The 2t now is still a little big around the waist but good on the length for pants and tops seem to be a perfect fit. I know I should probably wait until its closer to summer but I'm a compulsive shopper and saw some cute stuff already that I want to pick up for our cruise.

I would wait till its closer to summer, Julia is still in 18-24 months and shes 19 months. I got her some 2T outfits at the Gap but only because I know she will be that size and Gap runs big.

Hmm... the 3T will probably be too long for her. My son is in 2T and I'm wondering what to get him for the summer... I'll probably go with the 3T - I'm going to wait a few more months before I go on a shopping spree! My confusion is shoes!

Re: Lets talk about clothing sizes......
I say if you feel that certain brands/lines run on the bigger side, stick with those till she actually goes up a size....
or buy them in 3T and shrink them on purpose???

Re: Lets talk about clothing sizes......
It depends on the child but I would think the 3T pants would be too long. My DD's legs just got longer since she turned 2, esp in the past 2 or 3 months. (she's 2 1/2 now) - all of a sudden she has a kid body. I would think at your DD's age, even if she's wearing a bigger size, she would still have more of a babyishly proportioned body vs. a little girl body. The shirts, I think the 3T is fine if she's wearing 2T shirts comfortably now. It depends on the brand too - I can't believe the disparity in lengths on the pants from on brand to another! Maybe you can go shopping with something that is a little big on her now and pick the size according to whatever is similar to the outfit you bring, KWIM? I did that once or twice and it makes it alot easier to choose a size when you're not sure.
