Can you put bleach on hardwood floors?

Or would a simple mr. clean do it?

Thanks!

Re: Bleach on hardwood floors?

I wouldn't do it, especially if the floors have not been sealed in a while.

Vinegar also kills germs but I was told to use a very small amount.

I vacuum, swiffer, then using a micro-fiber mop, I spray a mixture of 9 parts water to one part vinegar, onto the head of the mop (just so lightly damp) and use that.

Be very careful... you do not want standing water on your hardwood floors. Water and wood don't mix and the water will ruin your floors. Always make sure you dry up any water right away.

ETA: I have been told to never use any commercial cleaners that you can use on tile, laminate, etc. on hardwood. They are way too harsh, so no Mr. Clean either.

I use a hardwood floor cleaner...made by Method at Target. It smells good and leaves a nice shine. You only need a little to do the job. Be sure to swiffer dust the floors first.

I think the bleach will be too harsh and possibly strip the varnish and dry out the floor too. I know Home Depot has good cleaners for hardwood.
