SAHM's

How much time on average do you spend away from your DC daily/weekly?

Re: SAHM's

I'm a pretty new SAHM (DD is almost 8 weeks) and I spend very little time away from her. Maybe 2 hours per week (at most.) Sometimes I leave her with DH to run out to the store on my own.

I would say just a few hours a week.

ETA: When DH comes home from work, I usually run out alone and get what I need to get done, and on the weekends I always set sometime for myself to go out and get some alone time...manicure/pedicure, hair done, shopping....

Re: SAHM's

well, normally DH has 2 days off a week....Sun which we spend as a family (or I take some me time to run errands alone or the rare pedicure).

The other day off he takes during the week and I'll go to my off the books job.

Every other Sat my friend watches her, so I can go to my job. Sometimes they'll keep her overnight, so we get a night and 1/2 a day to ourselves which we use to clean the house top to bottom and just chill.

I'll also run errands in the early AM if DH has the closing shift or at night when he comes home at dinner time (he got home around 5 today and I went out till 7:30pm doing errands)

Re: SAHM's

On the weekends, I would say 1-3 hours per day... Jacob takes his nap from 1-4 usually so my DH watches him while I will go out and do some errands, go food shopping, get my nails done, go shopping by myself (it is hard when I am with him).

When my MIL is home from Florida-- April-November, she comes once a week and watches Jacob and says that I can have the day to myself.. She is usually here 8 hours or so...

My mother will be retiring in February so I am sure she will be taking him so I can have some me time too...

Not much. On the weekend I take an hour to go grocery shopping, and sometimes I take half the day and go shopping but most of the time I take one of them with me, so that we each get some one on one time with the kids.

ETA: When they go to bed I go in our room and read and watch tv by myself for an hour.

Re: SAHM's

umm...just about none. DH works long hours so I'm pretty much on my own during the week. On the weekends we try to spend time together as a family so we usually do everything together. Lately DH has been taking Brendan out for his early morning weekend Starbuck's trips so I'll get maybe an hour or so there. Honestly though it's partly my fault that I don't get any me time. I could go out at night after DH gets home or plan something for myself on the weekend, but I just don't. I really should start doing that. It's really sad that when I do get out by myself it's usually to go grocery shopping. Chat Icon All of our family are out of state so I never get a break. I would LOVE to find a babysitter!

Now that my daughter is almost 3 I am more confident leaving her with sitters and family (even my husband)... With that maybe 20% of the week, She goes to school 2x a week as well so I 've included that. Before this revelation it was very little...

Same here. Once in awhile we have gotten someone to watch them for us to go shopping, or check out a place for their Christening, etc. - necessities. They're also usually sleeping whenever I leave them so I don't feel that bad leaving them.

I usually run out on the weekends while DD is napping. If I need something during the week I leave her w/ my mom.

Not much at all. I work one day a week - so that day. On weekends sometimes I go food shopping or a couple errands by myself or Dh will take my son to the park for some boy time but not usually more than a couple hours in total. Weekdays not at all. I was just saying how I am jealous of woman who have moms or babysitters nearby that can just drop off the kids at anytime and run and get their eyebrows done or make a dr appointment in the day....

Re: SAHM's

Almost none. DH works 6 days/week including weekends and 2 days a week he comes home after I put her to bed. His one day off a week we usually spend together, I will get a mani/pedi occassionally that day.
My mom is close by but she works f/t so it's hard.
I really want to find a mothers helper, anyone have someone to refer me???

Re: SAHM's

Probably about 5-8 hours a week. I go to the gym 4-6 days a week, and either have a babysitter come (who I am losing next week Chat Icon ), or I will drop him at my mother's or I will put him in the nursery at the gym.

Besides that, sometimes I will run to the store, or go get my hair cut on the weekends when my husband is home, but its hard because we are usually so busy on the weekends and thats the only time we all get to be together. He gets home late on the weekdays, and by that time I have no desire to go out. As long as I get my gym time, which is my "me" time, I am happy.

Re: SAHM's

Not much at all. Depends on me though. If i want to go out by myself DH will watch her, but I usually want to spend time as a family on the weekend. I do go out to get my haircut or nails done once a month or every other month. I go shopping for me if I need to. may be a little weird, but I really don't want time alone I just want someone else to take care of her while I can still enjoy her so DH does diaper duty and feedings when he's home that gives me enough of a break.

Re: SAHM's

I'm never alone. During the weekend, my husband will take them downstairs to their playroom so I can hang out upstairs and read and relax, but that's about the extent of it. Sometimes I'll go out shopping, but not too often.

Re: SAHM's

Well I'm a semi SAHM (I work PT).
During the week I go to the gym 3 days a week for about 1-1&1/2 hours and she's in the daycare there.
Then on Saturdays I go to my Weight Watchers meeting and I usually get my nails done or go shopping after for an hour or two.
I work 3 nights a week but I don't know if I would count working as alone time since it's not exactly fun, but it is a nice break from mommy duty. My mom watches her then.
DH is really good about watching her anytime I want to do something so I definitely don't feel trapped. I just usually opt to spend most evenings and weekends together as a family.
