movers or uhaul- with a toddler
I know uhaul is much cheaper but Im wondering if the stress of doing that is worth just getting movers- we have a ton of stuff plus a toddler and very busy schedules. BUT we do have a lot of strong guy friends to help. ANy opinions?

Re: movers or uhaul- with a toddler
I used U-haul in the past but my last 2 moves (1 bedroom apartment), I used a mover.
It only cost me about $500 so it was not worst the hassle to get a truck, find buddies to help us, sore back, etc..

Re: movers or uhaul- with a toddler
I am all about movers.... It's so worth every penny IMO. I personally don't like having to work around friends/family availability to help us move. I was 5 months pg with Nate when we moved into our house. I started packing weeks before the move. I would pack the box and have DH move it when I was done sealing it. Everything was ready for the movers on moving day. All they had to do was wrap various pieces of furniture and the TVs. They had our 3br apt packed in the truck in less than 2.5 hours.
I feel a little more at ease with professionals bc if they break it they are paying for it.

Re: movers or uhaul- with a toddler
IMHO, I would definitely hire a mover. We moved our 3 bedroom house from NY to NC by Uhaul and I will never ever do it again. In the end it didn't save us money, we just wanted our stuff there as soon as we moved. A lot of movers told us it would take about a week to get our stuff, but we had my bil's wedding the weekend after we moved down and had my dh's aunt staying with us so we needed to get the place set up asap. It was such hard work, though. My ds spent almost 3 days at my moms while we packed and moved the truck. It was really hard. If I were you I would hire movers. Packing itself is hard enough, never mind having to move yourself.

When we moved DS was only 3 months old, we had movers and it was great! They did a great job and we didn't have to worry about finding help and having friends break something!
