I pay $467 per year (Allstate).....I'm not sure about what it covers -- I think I have everything except flood insurance....

Wow...that's amazing! The best quote I got was from statefarm for a little more than $1200. But that was because my bank required that I get insured for the full purchase price of the house which is totally unnecessary. If I insured it for what the cost to rebuild really was, it would've been about $750/year.
A lot of places won't cover LI anymore so unfortunately, premiums will be higher and your choices will be limited.

I have a co-op policy thru all state for $247 a year
this will allow me to be covered by them for a home when I buy one b/c I am already a customer
I love my insurance agent- he is so smart!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the house is in NC......Just about everything is cheaper down there!

Flood Ins or your Homeowners covers flood?
FYI: all homeowners out there.
In NY, homeowners DOES not cover flooding. You need to buy a seperate policy for that coverage.
