Anyone else OBSESSED with real estate??
I seriously cannot help myself... We are in our condo for a year plus now-- and will not be buying a house for another 3 to 4 years but I have started to check out housing prices and I can seriously watch HGTV all day everyday... What You Get for the Money, House Hunters, Hidden Potential, My House is Worth, Flip This House.. it's a freakin sickness. I just want to buy property everywhere!!

I watch those shows all the time too... and I check MLSLI everyday! We are not moving anytime soon though..,. I want to stay here for 10 years at least.

yes I watch all those shows- it all started when me and my Dad used to watch this old house when I was little
then my Dad took me to see new houses he had listed - he had a real estate business for about 10 years
it's in my blood- if I wasn't married to a mortgage banker I would get my real estate license- but we both can't have comission based jobs right now
in the future I would like to flip houses for a living

I'm obessed because FH and I are so sick of renting and living in the apt. we're in now. We don't have any options though because our wedding is a little less than 2 yrs away, so we're stuck here for at least another 2.5 years. But MLSLI is my favorite website and I'm on it almost every single day.

I know I used to watch HGTV all the time in the evenings. And I like House Detective too. DH just completed his training to be a home inspector so he likes that show too. I love House Hunters and Flip that House (the one on A&E though) and all the ones you mention.

ME! I figured once I found my house I would stop being obsessed...but now im on to decorating.
I love the house flipping shows. I would love to do that. the market is too expensive here though.
eta: I LOVE property ladder and hidden potential. Property ladder shows how you actually CAN lose $$ flipping houses. and hidden potential shows what you can do with the house.
I HATE My house is worth what...grrr. dont get me started on that show.

Yes - we have almost bought 3 houses in the last month! I am on a mission and am on MLS all the time and out with my agent (who I love) almost every Saturday. And don't get me started on the TV shows. DH's eye's roll back into his head everytime I have one on!
If the current house falls through, I think we are going to take a break until after the holidays or unless someone really nice comes up.

why don't you like that show-- I actually applied to be on it-- but they wanted us to make a video tape and we don't have a camera and did not feel like hunting one down in the time frame that they needed it in. So we said, fluck it.
Part of my obsession is what everything is worth-- we made some adjustments to our apt, and with the market the way it is-- I am just wondering how much our place is worth based on what we put in and how much it has appreciated in a year.

Yep- we have an accepted offer on a house in S. Merrick, but there were some problems with the inspection. We need to get an contractor in there for an estimate. Hopefully it's not a huge project and either the owners will fix or reduce the price so we can fix it.

because it feeds the obsession of "Oh, if I paint the kitchen my house will be worth $5K more" and I dont know how they come up with the #s sometimes...
