boxes?

OK, so the last few times I have moved, it's been rogue-style. Once was cross-country and another was one block where I literaly put the dishrack (with dishes) in my lap and drove around the block to our new houseChat Icon Chat Icon

We have been here for 4 years now and accumulated a ton of stuff and furniture. Dh REFUSES to hire a moving companyChat Icon Chat Icon being the manly man he is.

Where do I get boxes to pack?? Do I have to buy them? Are they expensive?
Can I get any for free?

Re: boxes?

I work in a library, so I take them after we get a delivery.

Funny story...I was on the phone cancelling my renter's insurance since we have a new home policy. the agent told me that she used to go to walmart after a big delivery and the shipping guys were more than happy to give them away. She suggested the boxes that carry all the detergent/bleach etc. Those seem sturdier for packing.

good luck!!! We're in the middle of it now and it's a pain in the azz!!!!

We bought some from a moving company too, the price wasn't bad. Also, since I'm a teacher, we're always getting stuff delivered. I took lots of boxes from there too.

Someone told me liquor stores have good sized boxes.

Re: boxes?

Do you know anyone who works in a hospital? My SIL is an OR nurse and for every operation they do, the surgical gear they need for the operation comes in a box. Its a huge box - the perfect size for moving boxes. And they fold and unfold really really easy with a nice open/close lid. She got us tons when we moved, I loved those boxes.

Re: boxes?

Try Staples or Office max. They usually have boxes that the destroy.

I would even try Kinkos. The boxes that reams of paper come in are great. They are sturdy and have a lid. If you have lots of the same size box it makes things easier.

Re: boxes?

don't Buy BOXES. Call up Borders or Barnes & Noble and ask when they get their shippments. They will gladly hand them over for free and they are the heavy duty kind.

I hate reading folks buying boxes when their are free boxes, you just have to look for them.
