Tree Trim Party

We are having our 1st Tree Trimming Party...
Party starts at 3 so I have been trying to figure out what food to serve.

I was thinking a cheese fondue with assorted hors d'oeuvresand maybe a spinach and artichoke dip. Do I need more? There is about 12 people coming (including DH and I) and 3 kids.

Wording on the invite said:

We're decking the halls with boughs of holly.
Come celebrate with us and be jolly.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres begin at three.
Please bring a ball ornament for the tree!

I know I said it would only be hors d'oeuvres, but I feel like it may run into dinner time and people would expect more. Should I also serve desert (cake/coffee)?

TIA! SIL!

Re: Tree Trim Party

3 pm is kind of an odd time as far as planning a menu goes .... maybe a tray of wraps or sandwiches to go along with your appetizers ??

Re: Tree Trim Party

you could start with appies, but maybe put out sandwichs, a tray of baked ziti, some pasta salad, etc. Not crazy, but some hot foods are always a hit. Also, are you putting on brownies, cookies, etc?

I like the sandwich idea, maybe a small hero and one hot dish and a big salad?? I think cookies to finish with coffee/tea. That way it involves a late lunch, dinner and dessert!

Oops, don't forget the hot chocolate and egg nog!

Totally forgot about Egg Nog...great suggestion, thanks!

I think I will do sandwhiches as well, and maybe one hot tray of something.

Thanks gals!
