Taken from the parenting board - Is your DH going to stay over in the hospital with you
I am delivering in Charlotte and the hosptial I am at has 28 brand new private labor, delivery and post partum rooms (they just built a new maternity ward)....they look like hotel rooms, with a pull out couch and everything. Is your DH planning on staying with you?

I am not quite at that point yet. But I know when that time comes he will not leave me for a minute he'll sleep in a chair if he has too.

Oh heck no I plan on having as much alone time for 4 days as I can get, especially when it comes to sleep time. I don't need someone snoring when I have to get up to feed the baby

I doubt it. I think he'll be there as long as he can, but if I had to stay overnight he would leave and come back bright and early.

I WISH be would, but his parents house is less than 5 minutes away so I am sure he will wind up there on a comfy bed.

i guess it depends how i feel at the time. i am sure he will want to...but our house is 5 min away so it might just make more sense for him to go home.
but...do we even stay overnight these days? i hear that they have you in and out of the hospital in one day?

I guess it depends if I get a private room. and maybe just the first night - I'd feel bad for leaving DS for too long.
This time I think I would really like the alone time!

The hospital we are delivering in has private rooms with pull out beds for the dads, so we plan to have him stay there.
I guess it depends if someone comes up to take care of the dog or not.

I have thought about this and I am not sure. I would LOVE to have him there as it is a special time for BOTH of us, but I know he gets cranky with a lack of sleep and maybe he is better off at home.
I will admit that I am very nervous about being in the hospital alone. I know everyone says I will be so exhausted I won't notice who is there, but I have had other times in my life when I was exhausted and had to sleep alone and thought I would pass out but ended up tossing and turning. My adrenaline kicks in

The room at my hospital in CT is the exatly the same. DH stayed with me with Gianna, not sure what we are going to do with this one, since Gianna will only be 14 months old.
I would like him to stay again. The nurses were slow helping me get in and out of bed after i gave birth. I needed him to help :)

I am getting a private room. But, not sure yet if DH will be staying. he may be going home to our other baby, our dog. We don't want to confuse her too much so at least she will be more comfy if he is home than if she has to go to my moms.

I have never stayed in the hospital before and yes, I am quite nervous.
I don't think DH is allowed to stay. My sister delivered in the same hospital and her boyfriend wasn't allowed. She does keep telling me Im going to appreciate the rest. I know my dh will be there bright and early the next AM. I still kind of wish he was allowed.

As far as I know, you definitetly stay over at least one night (my friend stayed 3 nights, she had a c section)

We literally live down the block from the hospital so I doubt it. I want him rested for when we return home the hospital anyway. He is going to be VERY busy!

The hospital I'm delivering at has only private rooms and they do allow Dh to stay. I'm not sure what he's going to do. He gets cranky when he's tired, so it might be best for him to sleep at home. We'll see how comfy the pull out couch in the room is.
