What offer?
We are looking at a house that is selling by owner. A couple of months ago, they were asking $350. I know the market has dropped since then. I read today that this is the worst it has been. So, what do you think is a good offer to start with?

I agree - definitley with a FSBO too - they arent paying a realtor - and they will definitely counter.

Re: What offer?
Either $300 or $325, though it depends on the house. Does it need updating or other work? Is it in a good location? How are the other homes nearby priced and what are they selling for?
If $350 seems like a fair asking price, all things considered, I wouldn't go below $325 if you love the house.
Also make sure there is a clause in your offer noting that your offer is contingent upon a good inspection, or something like that. Your attorney can check on this.
Good luck!
