Re: Tattoo Question

the pain is honestly different for everyone.

some of mine hurt, or hurt in some spots, but mostly they are just more of an annoyance.

what spot were you thining of getting?

i dont reccomend inner upper back, or back of neck, or on hip bones.

my wrist and most of my hips were absolutely fine. my inner ankle was fine too. my lower back was fine as well.

how big is what you want?

Re: Tattoo Question

I am trying to decide where to put it, and exactly what I want. I want it someplace sexy, but not too obvious. Not someplace that every girl has one. I was thinking on the ankle, or back of shoulder. I really have no idea!

I LOVE frogs & fairies.
I saw a tattoo I liked in the tattoo parlor. It was a frog sitting on a lily pad, holding a flower over it's head. I also don't want to go too cheesy, if you know what I mean, I have to live with this for the rest of my life.

I definately don't want to go too large. depends on what I get.

Re: Tattoo Question

I have the WORST tolerance for pain, and I got one. I had psyched myself so bad I almost passed out in the chair....I had to breathe and relax. It ONLY hurts while it's getting done, then it's some tingles/itchies for a day or two.

I'd rather get a tattoo than get an IV put in!

Mine is inside my hip bone on my bikini line and from what I recall, it felt like a bikini wax but continuous ... if that makes any sense.

Re: Tattoo Question

I have one right next to my hip bone and one on my ankle. The one on my hip hurt soooo much more than the ankle.

Re: Tattoo Question

I have two, one on my lower ankle and one on the back of my neck.
The one on my neck took twice as long but hurt MUCH less then the one on my ankle. That one I wanted to scream for it to be over. The one on my neck only hurt like in 3 places, was over fast, the rest of the time its just annoying.

In my opinion it DOES hurt and anyone who says elsewise is lying, BUT a lot of people have a high tolerance for pain and to them the pain is not severe. thats what it depends on.

Re: Tattoo Question

I think the closer you are to a bone or muscle, the more it hurts. I have one on the fleshier part of my back/side and it felt like falling and skinning your knee really bad but continuously.

Re: Tattoo Question

i have 4, and the one that hurt the most was the one on my thigh...it was also the 1st one i got, so that could be the reason it hurt the most. the 2 on my back didn't really hurt, but i was uncomfortable sitting almost hunched over for 20 minutes.

Re: Tattoo Question

mine is on my lower back and a decent size. My best friend got hers around her ankle and held my hand the entire time.

DH has one around his ankle which he said did hurt since he's so boney and theguy actually hit a nerve which made him twitch. Then he got something on his calf which wasn't so bad.

Re: Tattoo Question

Like most everyone else already said - the pain is different for everyone. I have three.

The one on my ankle was my first...the "pain" was more like an annoying pain - like when you hit your funny bone.

The one on my lower back didn't hurt - at all.

However...the one on my left side - ribcage - hurt baaad. It was a burning, stinging pain the entire time. Chat Icon

I'm looking to get another 2...one on my wrist and one to either cover up the one on my lower back or else I would put it in the middle of my back - just below my shoulders.

Re: Tattoo Question

I think I was so psyched to get it, I didnt feel the pain. There was one spot that just felt like it hit the bone and that part hurt but it wasnt bad. I have a butterfly on my shoulder.

I had myself worked into such a fit that I knotted myself up pretty good. My tatoo is on my right shoulder and I remember the healing pain hurting like a B**Tch!

Re: Tattoo Question

most of mine felt like I was scratching a piece of sunburnt skin. The tattoos on my shoulders (on my back, not the arm part of my shoulder) friggin hurt, but they were a cover-up and there was veri intricate work right where i have natural pressure points. Most of the other ones were annoying but tolerable at worst, and 2 of them I fell asleep during.

Re: Tattoo Question

I can tell you I am a HUGE baby, don't tolerate pain very well and don't like needles.

I have one on my hip (very small heart) and a butterfly on my lower back (which I've even had re-colored).

It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't horrible eitherChat Icon I agree that the hip one hurt more!

Re: Tattoo Question

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I think that I am just going to bite the bullet and do it. When? I don't know. I will have to start seriously thinking what I want and where I want it. I am sure that I will have more posts in the future about your opinions of what I want before I get it done. Chat Icon

Thanks Again!!!!!!!!

Re: Tattoo Question

My ankles did not hurt that bad. It was tolerable. My hip hurt a lot because I was in an awkward position and he kept hitting sensitive parts. But overall wasnt a terrible experience. My lower back I think was the least painfail out of all 4. The middle did not hurt. A lot of people says it hurts the most but for me I didnt even know he was doing my tattoo. When he spread out though it literally felt like a razor blade was going across my lower back. I kept thinking wow so this is why I have waited 3 years to get a tattoo the pain.

Overall not so bad. I want another one and I am thinking that will be my christmas present to myself Chat Icon
