Bargaining at electronic stores
my parents bought a flat panel TV yesterday at PC Richard's. not a big one, just to replace the old tube TV in their bedroom.
My mom said to the sales guy "you know, you are more expensive than all the other stores" and then pulled out a flyer from 6th Ave Electronics (they just opened one in Westbury). so the sales guy knocks $100 off the price, just like that! so then my mom said "so all I had to do was ask and I get $ off"? so he took another $25 off!
they walked out of there with a 20" Sharp Aquos for $350, and that includes a 3 yr extended warrantee.
it's amazing how much they mark these things up and expect you to haggle!

Re: Bargaining at electronic stores
I've always bargained with my appliances and electronics. Now with the web it's so easy to find a retailer with the lowest prices in writing.
I saved about $1K on my kitchen applances alone on top of the 20% off sale they were already running. Everything in life is negotiable, I highly recommend people do this.
I haggle a lot, even with clothing on sale. I got my $125. wedding shoes (end of season) for $18 because they were missing some sequins and had a dirt stain (that was easily removable).
Hope your 'rents enjoy the tv

Yep, everything is negotiable except carpet stores in Arizona. I think it's a NY thing!
