Lady Bugs
There are hundreds of lady bugs flying outside of my house. They came around this time last year too. Does anyone know how I can keep them away?

Re: Lady Bugs
Thats funny. Over the summer I was actually going to buy lady bugs because it is good for insect control. They are good for your yard.

Re: Lady Bugs
You better hope they don't get inside your house - I've heard horror stories!
I don't think they have very many predators, especially this time of year.
They eat aphids so they are good for gardens. But everything is going dormant anyway. They'll go away soon enough, before the end of the month I think.

This should give you an idea of how bad they can get. Sorry.
See if you can suck them up in the vaccuum before the reproduce.

Re: Lady Bugs
I know, I get that feeling too sometimes when I see bugs or pictures of bugs.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I just don't want it to get out of control! By the way, only the orange ones bite.

Re: Lady Bugs
I actually paid $15 for some in the spring to rid myself of some aphids! I believe Praying Mantisis will eat them.

I have huge praying mantises every year. I find the babies when I water my daylilies - they keep these weird looking orange and black bugs under control.
Check out one of the babies from last year - I put my fingers in the picture to show how small he was:
