Re: Busch Gardens Tampa

I have not been but I have looked into it and just never pulled the trigger as a family vacation. I have spent a lot of time in the Tampa Bay area though. I think there are a handful of hotels right near busch gardens but I would probably only stay there for a couple days and head down to the beach. The Tradewinds Resort near clearwater is supposed to be great for kids. Clearwater is also fun or if you want more upscale the Don Cesar in Saint Pete Beach is beautiful. There is an aquarium in Clearwater and John's Pass is a fun place to hang out - lots of waterfront restaurants, shopping and dolphin watching boats.... I was there in October for an Islander game with my son. We did a mini speed boat toar out of St. Pete beach that was son fun. They also have clear kayak tours and glow kayak tours at night. I'd like to do that next time. And there are the pirate ship boats if you have little kids. The whole area is great! So much to do!

If you want to stay in Clearwater check out the Sandpearl. It's so luxurious and beautiful and my favorite place to stay down there

We stayed at Tradewinds in St. Pete. Spent a little more than half a day at Busch Gardens. We did the aquarium in Clearwater also.

Did you rent a car to go to Busch Gardens from Tradewinds? I stayed at The Don Cesar with friends earlier this year and saw Tradewinds. I'm clueless about how far that is from Busch Gardens though. Thanks for any info.

Thank you! I was at Don Cesar earlier this year and loved it (with girlfriends). Do you know how far it is from Busch Gardens or even Universal?

45 minutes to busch gardens. Not sure on Universal but it would probably be a couple of hours.
