I'm taking it right now -- Tamiflu and something for the cough. I started feeling sick on Tuesday, but I didn't go to the doctor until Thursday. Then, CVS didn't contact me on the correct phone number, so I didn't pick up the medicine until Friday. By Friday afternoon / Saturday morning, I was feeling better. I don't know if it was the medicine, or just time.

Last year, my husband took Tamiflu and he read the insert that came with the medicine. It said that it can help alleviate symptoms approximatley one day earlier than without it! So, it's basically the saying "If you take medicine, you're better in a week; if you don't take it, you're better in 7 days!"

My DH took it when we all had the flu about 7 years ago. Took it right on time and as directed and it did nothing.
He was sicker than me and DD who didn't take it.

I didn't, but my kids did.
I tried Tamiflu with my younger son. He's 11 now. Maybe 3 or 4 at the time and hated the taste. Made him almost sick. i got 2 doses in him and he had weird hallucinations in the middle of the night. That's a side effect for kids I hear.
After that I never used it again. Just lots of vitamins, elderberry syrup (during flu I give it 3 - 4 times a day), lots of fluid to drink, humidifier and lots of rest.

I swear by the elderberry syrup and even their ped said it helps. My son had the flu 3 years ago for 3-4 days.

Yes my ped wouldn't even prescribe it when DD had the flu 7 years ago. They said the side effects in kids way outweighed the benefits in their opinion so they wouldn't prescribe it

This is what I read. It doesn't sound like it shortens the duration much. I was at dr this morning and have the flu. I took the first pill today, but was reluctant whether to take it.

When I had the flu about 5 years ago, dr gave me tamaflu. I took it for two days and then threw it out. I was sicker on it than the actually flu itself. Never again will I take it.

My son has the flu now. Pediatrician does not recommend tamiflu for children.

I took over the counter meds and Motrin/Tylenol when I had the flu. I had symptoms too long to be eligible for Tamiflu.

Tamiflu is awful. I took high doses of elderberry and cleared it that way.
