Spin-off to short trip post--Cape May

Good morning,

Any feedback on Cape May? Is 3 nights enough to see & do? Most places there are across the street from the beach so no issue there.

Do you need the entire day to see Wildwood or is the boardwalk & rides good for the evening?

Love Cape May!
3 nights should be enough.
You don't need a whole day in Wildwood. You can go for a night (or go late afternoon like 4 pm ish) and walk the Boardwalk and ride the rides.
It's pretty standard boardwalk with the cheap souvenir shops, greasy food and rides.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that it's not like a Six Flags type of park where you will need the whole day.

So the day we get there, we will probably do the trolley and/or horse & carriage ride, the Cape May zoo walk around the town etc... does that sound ideal?

Beach & whatever water activities the next day. I'm open to suggestions & ideas.

Yes that sounds great.
The Cape May zoo is awesome and it's free (they do ask for a donation but it's more of a give whatever you want type thing)
Go walk around Washington Street Mall that first day- it's closed to traffic and all pedestrian and it has nice shops, ice cream places, fudge shops, restaurants etc.
Much nicer than the Wildwood shops

trolley and horse and carriage rides are great. they have some tours of the Victorian mansions if you are into that.
All the architecture is so beautiful there on the homes- it's like stepping back in time.

This site is good for ideas, tours, etc

Very helpful. Thank you. It sounds like there are plenty of things walking distance too.

Yes! we walk everywhere there. The place we stay has limited parking so once we arrive and park, we never use the car. We stay about a mile and a half away from the Washington Mall area so we walk there every morning for breakfast and we usually walk to dinner too. Our hotel has a shuttle that will take you anywhere you want but we love walking in that area.
If you want to go to Wildwood and the Zoo you obviously have to drive, but everything in Cape May is pretty walkable especially if you like walking

Awesome! Sounds like to zoo is on the way before arrival so that's a place to stop before check in I'm thinking.
Is the lighthouse walking distance?

that really isn't. From the Washington Mall area it's about 3 miles ...so for that you'd need to drive I'd say. We haven't gone to that though.

The waterparks on Morey's Piers are fun! But you would have to do that during the daytime hours.

Yes, I saw that. Is it better to do Wildwood on the day we head home?

It depends. If you are going to do a waterpark on the boardwalk I'd say no because who wants to deal with being all wet.
You can do the dry rides and walk around on the day you leave though.
Totally a matter of preference
