Well now that this is finally lifted, the dept of health better get with the program and change their quarantining guidelines. Can’t be having whole classes in and out of school constantly if one kid testes positive. We need to go back to the olden days of 2019– if your kid is sick , keep them home. If my kid is sick, I keep her home. Not that little Johnny is now sick, and 20 kids need to say home because he was in school the day before testing positive. My district sent an email last night stating once they get the guidelines from NYSDOH and SCDOH they’ll pass them on. Can’t wait to read that email. 
We have test to stay if we are exposed at school but, I agree - quarantining guidelines need to go...
I may be mistaken, because I can no longer keep track of all this anymore, but I feel like my district stopped contract tracing a few weeks to a month ago.
I have to go and see if i can find the letter from the district
Our district stopped the contract tracing a while ago too—- but that one maskless day last month took out 30 kids in one of the elementary schools because not everyone was wearing a mask . (2 classes). I’d be happy if my district announces test to stay or the DOH stops this quarantining all together because let’s face it—I highly doubt people are quarantining healthy kids at this point! —- sorry I can’t have my kid home every other week if someone tests positive. Time to move forward. Enough is enough.
But if they stopped contract tracing, how did the maskless day take out 30 kids in a class? They were contract tracing on that one day?
We are told we are no longer getting phone calls about close contacts and they are not quarantining anyone anymore (unless the child themselves is positive of course)
Our district has been being ran as: 3 feet apart and all masked—only sick kid is out. Not all masked-everyone is out which is what happened that one day. There was a case in my DD class where a child got it and all I got was a phone call from the nurse saying to keep an eye on my child to make sure she doesn’t come down with symptoms. (All kids were masked in class at that time) No one form DOH called me or anything, no crazy contact tracing nonsense. Just a heads up from the nurse.
Oh ok. Yeah I think my district just gave up.
I would never answer the phone to the DOH anyway, and I have never quarantined my healthy child outside of school, but the school district has stopped it all- thank God
Our district stopped contact tracing before yours Nell but they are still quarantining (well now test to stay) - so I guess their interpretation is different than mine (I guess they aren't informing the county of everyone exposed?)

OK found the letter- from 2/3
Additionally, last night our Board of Education adopted a “no contact tracing” policy. As a result, our schools will no longer investigate or report close contacts for quarantine to the SCDOH. We also will no longer call
parents or send letters reporting positive cases. This is a result of the SCDOH moving away from “mandated” contact tracing to “recommended” on their
website.
So whatever that means...
I haven't heard of anyone being prevented from going to school due to exposure after this letter, but who knows...

My daughter though is so damaged...i told her and she said...yeah but it will probably be for a day only like the last 2 times.
These kids are jaded...

Basically The same for my school and then they sent a follow up email.
They won’t tell anyone they have to quarantine but if you know your child was exposed I guess it’s supposed to be the honor system and you are supposed to have them quarantine but they’re not telling you who is positive so I don’t get that whole concept lol

School Mask Mandate Lifted
Went to school mask free and it was an awesome day. Some still had theirs on but I made sure to let my kids know that there is no making fun of anyone.
I do somehow feel some kids went to school with a mask but probably took it off as soon as mom and dad were out of site.

Lol - yes. I saw one specific kid who acts up in class walk in with a mask on, I said to myself that will be coming off as soon as his mom leaves the parking lot...
My younger son kind of missed his today, he said they helped when it's chilly out (even though he never wears one outside lol). I took all of his out of his jacket/sweatshirt etc. but he said he wants one tomorrow just in case they change the rules back (since his teacher said that the rules will change back and forth - even though she didn't mean this week lol).

That is very sad that these kids are living with the fear that they will have to go back to wearing them. Why would the teacher tell them that?

I had the same concerns with my district because no info was really given in regards to this and I emailed the super yesterday and asked him what was going to happen —I point blank told him they need to get it together and figure it out because I am not keeping her home for days at a time if she is not sick every time someone tests positive. That is just as detrimental to their emotional state. Enough is enough of this cr@p.

That is a concern of mine as well. Our superintendent always says - masks and quarantines need to go away together.. Our district hasn't come out and commented yet but the governor is supposed to release further guidance...
We don't have quarantines from school anymore as we do test to stay - but they aren't supposed to do extracurriculars...

It’s in the state guidance documents. They specifically state that close contacts do not need to quarantine IF both children are wearing a well fitting mask. I suspect that’s why you didn’t have any more quarantines- the kids were masked.

Yes - there are still quarantines, but since the district adopted test to stay, those who would previously have to quarantine are allowed to attend school as long as they test negative 3x over 5 days (they aren't supposed to attend other out of school activities though and it's only for school based exposures).
School related quarantines definitely have gone prior to test to stay though with the masking and distancing in place. The exposures have been mainly bus related.

Ahh ok, didn't see anyone on my social media do that. My youngest said I can throw away my masks. I said ummm...no, there are other places that you still have to wear it

I didn't take pics myself but I've seen a ton. DS 2 asked me this morning before school if it was still no masks. It's like he doesn't believe it (his teacher said that it will switch back and forth and he took it to mean from day to day, not from outbreak to outbreak lol)
