We’ve all been brought up being taught about “being a good sport”, and that usually means also NOT being a sore loser. But, it seems that this weekend two “athletes” in Lido Beach, broke both these cardinal rules.

According to sources, a soccer game on Sunday nearly turned deadly when one player attacked another (player from the opposing team) with a knife. The 20 year old, who had obtained the knife from a 16 year old aquaitance swung it repeatedly at the other player cutting his pinkie finger and his back, before attempting to take a swing at yet another player, noted police.

Ironically, the victim declined medical attention at the scene.

The attacker is being charged with second-degree attempted assault and possession of a dangerous weapon while the provider of the knife is being charged with criminal facilitation.
