Pooping in the middle of the night!!

FOr the past 3 nights my daughter has been pooping in the middle of the night. I'll get up to go to the bathroom, or get a drink of water and sure enough, she pooped!!

I have to change her of course so she doesnt get a rash, thankfully she goes right back to bed but its really annoying!! (Especially last night when it leaked all over )

Is there any way to change her schedule?? She used to poop in the morning or afternoon, dont know why it shifted. Im feeding her at the same times.

Any suggestions?

I WISH we could change their poop schedule because it's been messing with my DD's morning naps!

my DS used to do it all the time. It was so annoying!

Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do about it but try playing with her schedule a little bit.

And, I definitely think you should change her. The last thing you want to do is risk diaper rash or even worse, a UTI.

Why bother changing her? (I guess unless she leaks which never happened with my DD) I NEVER, EVER changed my DD in the middle of then night if she pooped. It's not a big deal to leave a poop in there all night. I always buttered her up good with butt paste at night so if she pooped she wouldn't get a rash. And in 2 years my DD has maybe had 2 rashes and they didn't happen from poop at night actually. I would just leave her and not worry about it. Poop happens.............even in the middle of the night!

For the record, you can't really change someone's poop habits either. She's going to poop when she poops. It changes all the time what time of day they drop a load.

Like Tilde, I COVER DS, back and front with A&D ointment because his diaper is about 10bls heavy in the morning.

Have you given her a new food recently? It seems silly, but maybe it's causing her to have to go again at night.

I just let it phase out. It did stop as she got older but she was never a big middle of the night pooper anyway.

I'm with you though. I could never just let her sit in poop. *shrug* personal preference

Maybe im a softie but I HAVE to change her, I just feel like *I* wouldnt want to be sleeping in my own poop all night, why should she LOL.. I know I know, Im crazy.

Plus, like last night it leaked and she was LITERALLY up to her chest in poop (she is a stomach sleeper).

Thanks for the responses ladies. I guess I just have to wait until the cycle changes again and she goes back to pooping during daylight hours lol.

DS did that for a while and eventualy it just stopped.....wait it out!

I always check his butt too before i go to bed to be sure there is no poop!!

One night it did, she was up fussing from it. But like last night she was sleeping hard as a rock, I just happened to notice cause I checked in on her.

I never ever ever check on DD at night. I just glance at her so I know she is okay but I would never know if she pooped.

At night I just put on a bunch of diaper rash cream ( I use Aveeno ) and she is fine until morning.

Maybe its mean, but doesn't seem to bother her!

I must be mean too! My DD wakes up every morning with a poop of varying size in her diaper. I am not sure if she makes this poop at 10 pm or 6 am but either way I never go in to change her in the middle of the night.
Unless she wakes up crying from it, I'd say lube up her bottom before bed and leave her!

ETA- I don't think you can change their pooping schedule. I know I can't change mine! I think pooping and peeing is one thing that can't be changed!

jack has been doing this recently as well and I HAVE to change him. i cant let him sit in it he will eventually wake from it anyway and he stands now. when he drops to his tush, it squishes all over so im not chancing it anymore.

i am SO over 7am diaper blowouts. if i notice it (usually because he is stirring) i change him.

he also gets rashes the longer he sits in it

ITA. This morning DD had two different textures going on down there.. I think she might have had a 10pm AND a 6am poop
