Jimmy Buffett Jones Beach—-UPDATED
I have heard you need to get there really early but what do you do for over 12 hours until the concert starts?
What if you can only show up for the concert, can you find any parking by the afternoon?

Tailgating is huge for Jimmy Buffet. There are people who go just to tailgate.
I don’t know if you have to be there that early (but people will be). There’s a lot of people watching to do. I think we went just a little bit before last time I went because it was last minute and I was working in NYC.

If you go just for concert, you will be parking very far away. JB is all about tailgating. I went one time, we were there 8am and a couple parking lots were already full! We had a lot of people with us and had 2 campers and a party bus. Breakfast, lunch and a pig roasting. By the time we went to the actual concert, we were exhausted lol. It was an experience!

The problem is hubby can’t get off that day so we are trying to figure out if I should go and take someone else or go with him later.
I am going to have to ask around if anyone is going to tailgate to hang with them. I have friends who have but not sure about this year. They also never go in either so just for the day.

I went to the BSB concert there a couple weeks ago. We parked in field 5. No charge and a short walk to the venue. It wasnt bad at all!
ETA- make sure you adhere to the bag policy. We didnt know about it and was sent back to our cars to leave our stuff in there. It was terrible.

The problem is people start tailgating in the early morning until the concert starts. I have seen them on the news before I even go to work lol.
I just went too and they just looked inside my bag and was fine. My gf did bring a clear bag though with her. I had no clue.

Getting an uber home at the end of the concert would be a nightmare though, no matter how close you live. I always go with big groups and we get a limo bus but it's about $150 a person so it's not cheap.

If you go just for the concert you’ll have to park in a different lot but you’ll be with plenty of company. I’ve done it before- it’s not terrible.

Park by restaurants in town and take Uber from there ?
Or you’ll just have to park far away and walk a bit to and from the actual concert
But if you can tailgate, do it. It’s an experience for sure

There is an overflow parking lot that you will be able to park in that is just a further walk
ETA: People tailgating take up a lot of parking spaces. Once the concert starts - they pack things up and open those spaces up. If you have a really hard time - look at the handicap spots at the exit by Ocean Parkway. I have had people ask for a spot we were using for a tent and park there until we could clean up.

I would love to do the tailgating and asking around to see if anyone is going to do it but my husband can't get off that day so he would have to come later on too.

We always purchase the VIP parking when we get our tickets. We usually get there around 3-4 pm.

I paid $25 when I bought the tickets. The price definitely goes up the closer it is to the concert. Last year, I paid $25 for one parking pass and then a few days before the show, we had a change of plans an were going to be driving separately from our friends so we ended up needing another pass - that one was $175. it's crazy what they cost now

Exactly. I did see $100 but I really don't even want to do that. Too close to my vacation. I need to convince hubby to just walk it
