Looking to move to Jersey. Can anyone recommend any desirable areas with great schools, involved sports teams and nice parks?

Re: New Jersey

Hunterdon, Somerset and Morris Counties all have really nice areas, we considered homes in all three but ultimately settled in Hunterdon. They all have gorgeous parks, rivers, wildlife, forests, rolling hills, tons of hiking trails and plenty of outdoor activities.

Some of the towns we loved (schools were a priority) were Basking Ridge, Peapack Gladstone, Chester, Tewksbury, Long Valley, Mendham and a few others. Not sure if you need to be near NYC, these towns are about an hour out of the city. Some towns are more rural than others, all are beautiful though. You can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned towns.

We looked at a few towns a little closer to the city (Chatham, Cranbury, etc) but liked the feel of being further out. We wanted something really different from LI, less traffic and more nature was at the top of our list.

Good luck in your search.

Do you have any other requirements like price range or that it needs to be in proximity to a certain area? There are a number of great places in NJ that meet the qualifications you suggested.

A lot of people recommended Marlboro NJ but I don’t know anything about the area. I also need to be able to commute to Staten Island or South Brooklyn daily.

I know some people from Staten Island that moved to Marlboro so I think it’s not far from the bridge. Rumson is really nice.

For towns with easier commute to SI that have good schools, etc Marlboro is closest, then manalapan. I have family in both towns as well as freehold but that’s further out.

I have friends from SI who relocated to Old Bridge, Freehold, Middletown and Lincroft.

I live in Monmouth County and we love it. Close to beaches, parks, not far drive to NYC or Philly.
