The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences isn't dropping Sunday night's Oscars incident with Will Smith and Chris Rock ... opening a formal review of what went down and further condemning Will's actions.
The Academy made a statement Monday, saying "The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law."

The Academy usually holds a post-Oscars meeting that goes over what happened during the show ... odds are, this review will be a big topic of discussion. It's unclear what's on the table ... it could be anything from taking Will's Oscar back, to banning him from future awards shows. Or, it could just be a reprimand.
As you'll recall, Chris Rock was announcing the award for Best Documentary when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, comparing her to "G.I. Jane."
Will walked on stage and slapped Chris across the face. After returning to his seat -- entire audience shocked and confused -- Will shouted from his seat, "Keep my wife's name out your f****** mouth!"

He should have been removed immediately following the incident. Picture anyone other than a Hollywood Star storming the stage to slap the host, they’d be dragged out ASAP. The fact that he was allowed to stay and then given his award and that BS cry me a river speech is beyond me. I’m not saying the guy shouldn’t have gotten the well deserved award, but I believe it should have been after the fact and not publicized based on his erratic behavior

Completely agree!! 100%!!
Yea, a day late and a dollar short. But whatever makes them and Will feel better, this is all damage control to fix how the Academy and Smith messed up.

They just said that nothing will come out of this most likely and that he won't lose his award. Just something to shut everyone up I guess because they screwed up by not doing anything the moment it happened.

But it's Will Smith. Beloved Will Smith. He will lie low for a few months and this will go away and nobody will care and he will be front and center in 2023.

I heard Will Smith denied GMA and other talk shows and he will speak on Jada’s show, Red Table or something like that.

He's Will Smith. Nothing will come of it. They just have to say they're doing something after they did quite literally nothing. What's there to investigate? It happened on live TV. Are they thinking it was someone dressed like Will Smith sullying his good name? lol They gave the man an award after he assaulted someone - that's a slap in the face to justice  Instead of being escorted out, his behavior was rewarded. The public got a prime example of the privilege these people have. These folks play by a different set of rules.
