All should be stopped from Russia no matter the amount. If we have the opportunity to get from elsewhere or ourselves, THAT should be looked into. Wasn't that pipeline coming from Canada?
Which one? There are lots of pipelines coming from Canada in to the US that are operational.
The US companies pretty much halted imports of oil from Russia. Shell was the last hold out and overnight they succumbed to the pressure and will cease importing from Russia.
From what I was listening to this morning, if that pipeline would have been able to be continued building, we would be able to use it but now if they start it back up, it would take another year and a half. From how they were describing the one from Canada, it would have helped us so the one they shut down seems to have been the wrong decision. Again, just stating from what I was listening to on the news this morning which I would think they would know more than us.

If you are talking about the Keystone extension referred to as XL sometimes...it was 10% completed at the time that the EO was signed by Biden. There is no way that would have been operational by now and probably not operational for a decade. That extension also only had funding through 2022.
Who were you listening to? Did you fact check anything they stated?
Just for reference, the Keystone pipeline is functional and operational. There are almost 200 operation pipelines in the US currently.

At the time of the EO, January 2021, less then 10% had been completed. So, only 10% completed while the previous Adm. (2019 when the permit was granted) was in office but you think they could have completed the remaining 90% and get it up and running in 12-13 months? Does that really seem plausible? Additionally, it was not fully funded and would have needed about 85% of the full funding to be secured in 2021 and 2022.
ETA: It was an extension arm from Canada to Nebraska/Montana to meet the current pipeline.

I honestly don't even know what channel I had on as I keep switching them back and forth to watch about the Ukraine. From what they said, if they started today it would be done in a little over a year so I guess that timeline would have been done by now.

How does that make sense...so from 5/2019 through 1/2021 - only 10% done but the remaining 90% could have been completed from 1/2021 to today? 3/2022? So 90% would be completed in less time that 10%?

I am posting because it seems to address a lot of the commentary in this thread (IE: stopping Russian import, Keystone XL pipeline, using US resources etc)

The Federalist is far right and this article is full of inaccuracies.
Like posted in the other article...crude went negative in April 2020. That was after the Russian/Saudi price war that started the push to undermine energy prices because of the US to continue fracking and exploration - the price per barrel has to be $50-60 dollars per barrel. Neither country saw the pandemic coming which halted the need for things like gas and manufacturing stopped further driving down the price and making crude go negative. A deal with OPEC was struck to limit the production of oil/gas until April 2022.
You had 2 years April 2020 to now, where oil companies aren't drilling in the US because it was not worth the money.
The Keystone XL arm would not have been operational until the earliest 2030. And it was moving tar sands which would not be used for gas.
This isn't to say that the accertaination that Biden may be getting money from green energy push. All politicians lie. All of them are influenced by PAC money - by lobbyists.
But when you come across an article like this one that lies about fundamentals and so obviously manipulates snipests - I can't trust the reporting.
This is a perfect example of what is wrong with everyone and anyone being able to call their stories "news"
