It's over. People just need to accept it and move on. If you want the vaccination and boosters do so (just like the flu shot) and if you want to wear masks, that is your choice. There is no reason for mandates anymore as they are not working. My entire family just had Covid and we are all vaccinated and my husband boostered. Almost every single person I know has someone in their household who has or just had Covid. All of them are vaccinated and are mask wearers. It is literally a joke right now. Yes I know some people are dying and people are going to the hospital but they do that with other illnesses as well. Did you see the new state quarantining rules for school. Now they are taking away close contacts and you can go to school if you were exposed and vaccinated but you can not go to afterschool activities. We all know that Covid starts spreading at 3:30 pm. It's all ridiculous now. They should be taking all this money and time that being wasted on useless vaccinations and put it towards treatment, which I can't believe we do not have after almost 2 years of this crap.
Yes this. Time to hop off the hamster wheel. I will also add that there ARE treatments but doctors are being pressured to suppress them.
I just want to add that the unvaxxed I know got sick but didn't need to be hospitalized. I know some vaxxed that needed to be hospitalized.
I just read a piece too how RSV is prevalent and it typically kills 100-500 children a year, and 14k over 65. I just found it interesting, even though the numbers of impacted adults is lower, that a big deal has never been made about this.

I really hope they are waking up as it doesn't seem so from reading the comments on this board on a regular basis. Many still think things are ok and don't question a thing.

If people are pissed about the profit made from free vaccines, wait until they hear about our for profit healthcare system, the 1/3 of bankruptcies from medical bills, our bloated military budget, the dark money in politics after Citizens United, etc... I could go on.
Of course nothing is "free." We pay for even "free" things in the form of taxes. It's all about where you (general you) want our money to go. There is worthwhile healthy debate about where that money should go but railing about how something is "free" misses the point, I think.
If someone really wants less money to go to the sleazy profit of corporations and thinks that electing Republicans is the answer I have a collapsing bridge to sell them.
What we need to do is get big money out of politics and get rid of these voter suppression laws so politicians can actually represent the will of the people and not big money interests.

And there will never be a politician that represents the will of the people - regardless of party. That is not how our system works. That is how it is SUPPOSED to work, but it has been damaged beyond repair.

And there will never be a politician that represents the will of the people - regardless of party. That is not how our system works. That is how it is SUPPOSED to work, but it has been damaged beyond repair.
There is not one politician on either side that is working for "the people". That is one of the main reasons Trump got elected because everyone is sick and tired of these politicians from both sides talking out of their ass and broken promises. Unfortunately we see what happened with Trump so hopefully next time a more viable candidate is put forward.
If we are talking about sleazy money and keeping it on topic, it is 100% the Democrats that are pushing this ahead. The Republicans have been fighting it since day one.

Opinion piece on covid vaccine mandates
I’m not going to touch the idea that there is no “cure for cancer” (which doesn’t even make sense because cancer isn’t one single disease and many cancers are cured every day) due to government corruption because my blood will boil.
But where is the data that covid treatment is being withheld? I’m not saying it isn’t happening, I am genuinely curious where this is coming from.

This was Federal yes and was to be enforced by OSHA
Again, it's up to a privately owned company to do what they wish and require what they wish. And to fire people for not complying. But that would be their choice and done as a company policy.
If this hadn't been blocked ALL companies with 100 employees or more would have to have complied with it or get fined.
And you wouldn't have been fired, there was a testing option too.
NYC has their own mandate right now - anyone working for a private company in NYC who is onsite has to be vaccinated. Not sure if there is a testing option there.
So yes, I guess a state could mandate it if they wanted- like the city did.
But so far there hasn't been talk of that on the state level I don't think.

You’re about to tell how little I’ve been following this lol so the mandate hadnt officially been implemented yet. Meaning that companies weren’t required just yet to enforce the vaccine mandates but some companies chose to start doing it?

This was Federal yes and was to be enforced by OSHA
Again, it's up to a privately owned company to do what they wish and require what they wish. And to fire people for not complying. But that would be their choice and done as a company policy.
If this hadn't been blocked ALL companies with 100 employees or more would have to have complied with it or get fined.
And you wouldn't have been fired, there was a testing option too.
NYC has their own mandate right now - anyone working for a private company in NYC who is onsite has to be vaccinated. Not sure if there is a testing option there.
So yes, I guess a state could mandate it if they wanted- like the city did.
But so far there hasn't been talk of that on the state level I don't think.
You’re about to tell how little I’ve been following this lol so the mandate hadnt officially been implemented yet. Meaning that companies weren’t required just yet to enforce the vaccine mandates but some companies chose to start doing it?
I can’t see how states would be able to do this mandate but I won’t be surprised if they try!
Correct. My company wasn't making us vaccinate or test.
They were waiting to see if this went in to effect
Since it got shot down, I won't have to worry.
If a company was making you vaccinate or test prior to this- it's because they wanted to.
(Except in NYC- as of 12/27 all private companies operating in NYC had to require vaccines for their employees. That was a DeBlasio thing)

Opinion piece on covid vaccine mandates
Sorry to jump back to the money aspect but have a dr friend who said he gets $100 to either test or vaccinate per person. Claims he's making good $$ now.

That has been happening even before covid. It’s an incentive so practices can keep up and increase the number of vaccines given. It has gotten really bad recently with non covid vaccines (I’m sure with time covid vaccine will end up being pushed to patients in practices as well) where many practices have stopped and refused seeing those patients that don’t want to vaccinate their children, some don’t even want parents to spread vaccines out but only follow the recommended schedule.
