Well, I tested positive this morning on the home test, then went to a test center for the rapid antigen and it was positive. No lines, thankfully.

Next I have to go for my PCR test, so I can get my “healed” certificate and I think that will be able to be counted as my booster shot. Yay, no needle for me, I think.

Now on to 14 days of quarantine, but I think that might have changed. The info line I called today said it was 14 days, but now I have to wait for the health office to contact me.

It sucks.

I either got it from a restaurant I went to on Wednesday. There were also protests going on in the area at the same time…

I was alerted by an app that I was in close contact with someone. There is a government app you use to check in to restaurants.

Sorry you're sick. Hope it's mild for you.
I do like that your government allows you to use natural infection as a substitute for a vaccine or booster.
Amazing how that's acceptable in other countries but not here.
Why?

Yeah, I think I can use it in place of my booster. The info line told me it was a good idea to get the official certificate because things are constantly changing.

That being said, they are starting to limit it to vaccinated or healed + a test. If you are neither vaccinated nor healed, then a test simply isn’t enough in a lot of places. But “freshly” boostered or healed trumps the test.

I can’t keep up with all the rules anymore.

Common sense would tell you at this point a test should trump a vaccine considering how the vaccine does very little to prevent infection and spread.

I'm very sorry to hear that. How do you feel? My 14 YO has it now.. =(

I feel ok. I had a headache and scratchy throat on Saturday, and yesterday was better. So good that I cleaned a lot Chat Icon.

Now I just feel like a stuffy nose and an annoying cough and shortness of breath when speaking. Hopefully it stays that way.

Today was busy trying to figure out what I needed to do. What I found interesting was that they have you running around all over to get tests. Luckily, I live in a residential area that borders the countryside, so I could use my car. But most of the places are in the city and you know people are using public transport to get there…

Yes it’s kind of stupid. If you feel sick, assume it’s COVID and stay home until you feel better. I bet we would have a lot less infections if people just used this common sense logic rather than needing to know for sure that it’s COVID.
Glad you are already feeling better

I could stay home if I wanted to, but I want my healed certificate.

Yes true, for you it makes sense to have that but if we did away with all of these ridiculous rules you wouldn’t have to even test.

Well I think that remains to be seen. The studies suggest that there are more unvaccinated taking up beds in hospitals.

Sadly, I was around SO and he is not vaccinated. I guess I will see what happens.

Actually it doesn’t remain to be seen. It is a fact than it does but prevent infection or spread. Now the only claim is that it helps to prevent serious illness and death.

Your SO has greater than a 99.8% chance of survival so he should be good.

Ugh yes, the smoking is definitely concerning but hopefully it is Omicron which doesn’t seem to make it to the lungs.

Nah, I'm done. How you guys don't see her constant generalizations of the vaccinated crowd as harassing is insane.

I figured as much. You should stop spending so much time worrying about her. The article was actually very well written and offers a different perspective. Too bad you didn’t take the time to read it.

So funny as I have said over and over how I am almost the only one of my friends and family who is not vaccinated. I have absolutely no problem with any of them.
You have a lot on your plate right now so I get it if you are “done”, but... I doubt it.

Sooooo many good points!! Thank u for sharing lululu!!! I really enjoyed the reading and brought up many, many things that should be relevant to all.

“What my mother had provided was a seed of doubt. A reason to look closer at the science that everyone around me took for granted. If my mother did not exist, it would have never occurred to me that there was any reason to look into childhood vaccines—or later, Covid vaccines—and that would be the end of the story.”

Needless to say I love his mom. Not only because she’s a smart, naturalist, independent thinker that’s not afraid to go against the grain even with vaccines but because she was able to raise her child as a critical thinker, and the relevance of seeking all evidence before forming his own conclusions. This is an ability that unfortunately is getting lost with each generation.

This is another paragraph that should resonate with everyone regardless if u're part of “the other” or not.

“I’m taking a stand because if people like me don’t stand up against what’s going on in the world right now then things will only get harder and weirder and scarier for other people like me. I’m worried that if we don’t get off this path soon, it’s going to get harder and harder to turn back. And I don’t want to see where that ends up.”

Part of me thinks it’s already too late. There are so few people who are willing to listen to the other side or to just get another perspective. People are so convinced they are right that they double down in their beliefs even when it becomes glaringly obvious that they are wrong. The world is in such a sad state. I was on the fence about having my girls vaccinated. I already caved to the pressures and had my son vaccinated for all the wrong reasons. This article made me realize it’s okay to hold off even if it is against the grain.

I hear ya! Part of me feels the same sometimes, especially in places like NY. But then again I think how many more people are becoming aware of what’s happening, and now they’re vocal and talking about it with others and spreading awareness, so that gives me hope. I know it’s gonna take a long time, although I’m praying it’s not too late.

I wanted to respond to this, as I was firmly in the "if we all get vaccinated, this will end soon" camp and I've since changed my tune (for the most part). I was admittedly a paranoid freak when Covid first hit. We got vaccinated early on and I encouraged everyone to. I followed all the REAL guidance out there. My husband had a stroke last summer at 39 (and he's totally fine now), but it was scary and we never found out the true cause. I started to think it was the vaccine, and questioned his doctors- they tend to agree. He's in healthcare and we are so worried that he'll be required to get his booster OR lose his job now. We are going to go for a medical exemption, but getting one of those aprpoved by a major hospital system is not easy. He's worked hard for his career and without his income, we won't make it and I'm fully employed, with a great income too. We got Covid over Christmas and while we were SICK (flulike for days), I didn't ever worry that I would die. This isn't the same virus it was 2 years ago. I did have to attend TWO wakes last week of people who died related to Covid (with other factors) and have another this week. Which is crazy to me. Here we are two years later, and we don't have many answers. I get that two years into a new virus isn't long, but I wish that the powers that be would stop and really think about what they are doing. How does mandating more shots help anything when people are still getting sick at alarmingly high rates whether they have 1, 2 or 3 shots. We are at a point where nothing makes sense anymore. I'm not saying the vaccines didn't help, I'm not saying Covid is or isn't a death sentence, I'm not saying I have the answers....I don't know what to do anymore. Being a parent right in this climate is probably one of the hardest things we'll ever face- we're forced to make decisions without precedent and hope for the best. We're forced to make these decisions for ourselves and loved ones and who knows what is right anymore.

As I am sitting here listening to a Caribbean radio station host talking about his father (from CT) wanting a FOURTH shot and him telling him hopefully soon as Israel has it now. It's like saying if you take 1, 2 or 3 aspirins, it might work but it might not so maybe if you try a 4th one that will stick.
They need to stop pushing the vaccines and work on them while people take care of themselves, stay home if you are sick. Just like every other illness and virus that has been out there forever.

I am so sorry to hear about your husbands stroke and I am so sorry that you might be forced to make that difficult decision soon whether or not he gets a booster. I do have a feeling that a lot of vaccine related injuries are being swept under the rug, which is scary. I went to multiple health care professionals when I experienced somewhat concerning side affects from the vaccine and I don’t believe it was ever reported to a central agency collecting data on side effects. I also know someone who was hospitalized with pericarditis less than a week after his second shot and the doctors refused to attribute it to the vaccine. These things are very alarming.

Can I ask why you tested? You can work from home if you are sick, correct?

On Mondays I cannot work from home if I am sick. I had mild cold symptoms and I got a notice on my app that I was in contact with someone who tested positive.

Why are you questioning me? I did the right thing and got tested and it was positive. It’s called social responsibility.

I agree.

I feel the initial vaccines helped in the beginning - as I know those who were vaccinated early on who's families got Covid and they did not. But the more and more this evolves, the less and less it makes sense.

I feel many are starting to feel this way.

I wanted to get my older son vaccinated ASAP as he was on the verge of turning 12 and he could've gotten the pediatric dose still but I am glad I waited as he will need countless boosters anyway and probably will still get Omicron.

And I find it senseless to introduce a booster for Omicron in March when by then, I would guess a large percentage of the population, either knowingly or unknowingly, would've already had Omicron.

Right. We are always two steps behind this virus so until it’s been around a while I and we have more of a grasp this makes zero sense. I am looking at all these people getting boosters just scratching my head! It’s not working!

I got my Daughter her 1st shot as we're in the same boat, she's 11 (turning 12 early this year)and I wanted her to have the lower pediatric dose (we're in NYC, so she needs to be vaccinated) and she got Covid in between doeses so now we're waiting on the 2nd shot-- but IDK how long, because every single doctor says something different!!
