TMI question re: Perimenopause
Sorry for the TMI - Did anyone start having more frequent periods when they were in perimenopause? I skipped two months and then when my period came back I got it again after 16 days and now 14 days later I feel like I am getting it again. It's freaking me out! Not sure if it's worth a visit to the GYN. This happened once about a year ago (but only once not twice in a row) and I had a sono and all was normal.

I just was about 3 weeks late and then had it heavy for 2 weeks straight. Very annoying as I have no clue when it will be back again. I have always been on time so this is throwing me off and ruining some plans.

Yes, that does sound similar. I'm 55 and went through menopause on the early side. My periods were really wonky starting at around age 39. Sometimes every 20 days and sometimes every 50 days. At age 41, I went 5 months without a period at all, then 3 months just like regular, and then no period again. I figured that it was just another sign of menopause, but I was pregnant that time! After giving birth, my period was pretty wonky again and then stopped.

I think its normal for perimenopause to be irregular like that. I am 51 but I am still on the pill. My doctor said I have to come off of it at my next visit, but I am still getting my period at least every other month. I can't wait for this to be all done. I'm over it.

I skipped 3 months. Then spotted for 14 days followed by a regular heavy 6 day AF. Then had 2 periods perfectly timed at 27-28 days - heavy first few then tapered off normally. I saw dr when I started spotting randomly (family cancer history) Sono and blood were fine.
I’ve also had some heart scares that came along with this. Thankfully all is sorta ok but had positive stress test, further testing and terrible extra beats and racing heart (following up a cardio end of the mo) all related to peri menopause
It’s awful
ETA: I’m 44 years old
Was told by fertility specialists I’d go into menopause a little earlier than the avg

sounds like my life.
i just don't know what's going to happen or when.
although i have an IUD, every so often i start wondering if i should take a pregnancy test. it's so annoying.
sometimes, there will be 6 to 8 weeks between cycles. other times, there will be about 3 weeks.
i'm 48 and i've been going through this for two years... this craziness started november 2019.

I thought I was starting peri menopause but ever since my covid shots I am tmi warning more bloody than ever. I am very regular at 27 days. But instead of my boobs hurting like always for at least fourteen years, now it is my ovaries. I know which side I ovulate based on which side hurts two weeks before my period, this change happened since my first shot.

Yes, I used to be very regular. Now it can be 20 days or 45+ days between periods. Sometimes it is normal. Been checked out many times by this and now I get regular sonos every 4-6 months because they are watching a cyst. They tell me this (irregularity) is normal for my age (44).
There were other factors that happened when it began (was underweight), but I’m now normal weight.

Yes normal! Mine is wonky, I'm 45. I will go months without then have 2 in a month and sometimes it's like a murder scene. Was having wonky heart issues though, but all that checked out fine with an echo and a heart monitor I had to wear for 10 days.

I'm 48 and my periods are somewhat regular now they are like 24 days apart though- which stinks- and again somedays its a scene from Dexter other days its like nothing
I did start like 4 months ago with a burning feeling in my one boob- good times, when it first happened i literally looked at my boob like shit did i set my boob on fire....

After the vaccine my periods went from 28-32 day cycles to 22-24 day cycles. I had my second Pfizer shot in June and my cycles stayed shorter up until November. Now I'm back to my normal regular cycle so far. The flow didn't change, just the cycle length.
I just had my booster shot this past Saturday so we shall see. I've read it's not abnormal for your cycles to change after a vaccine shot, I've experienced changes in my cycle when I'm stressed, sick etc so I'm not surprised it changed after the vaccine too.

Thanks everyone. I just ask as I know people have shared their stories here and I have seen elsewhere and a coworker actually just told me about how hers was affected after she got the vaccines.

No and please this post is not about what the vaccine does to your cycle-I think there was already a post on that and that doesn’t apply to me at all- I’m wondering if it’s common during peri menopause to sometimes get periods closer together (like a 15 day cycle) and how often that happens.

Just wondered as I know many are on the younger side. I am just experiencing this longer period time and I am about 10 years older than many here.

My sister has had this going on for years. It drives her batty. She’ll go 2 months without a period, then get it 3 times in the next 2 months. Never knows when it’s coming, she wears a pad pretty much daily now.
They have checked everything under the sun and just chalked it up to perimenopause. She’s 45 now and it probably started when she was 42.

Thanks so much for sharing this (the heart scare portion). I'm so sorry you are going through this; I have been experiencing similar things and it really helps to know it can be related to perimenopause. I keep meaning to call my doctor but life is so hectic right now with the holidays and heading into my busy season at work.

I am about to turn 41 and my cycle over the past year or so has gone from 28 days down to 22 days last month. I’m on day 19 now and have those telltale PMS cramps, so guess she’s on her way early again.
Anyone here not have kids? I don’t, and I think I read that being childless can bring peri on earlier…
