Not concerned at all. I do however wonder how no one can see that wearing masks seemed to be way more effective than the vaccine. I don't know anyone that caught covid when while wearing a mask every time they were around people outside of their home but I know a ton of people that were infected while vaccinated and forgoing the mask.
But in a way don't we want the virus to mutate? Historically, typically as viruses mutate they become less severe because the goal of the virus is to survive and it can not survive once it kills it's host. While this is not always the case and sometimes viruses become more lethal, it is much more likely that it will become more contagious and less lethal. Isn't that what we want?

I'm just wondering why anyone is surprised this thing mutates. Look at the flu. How many mutations has that bad boy had?
Every season they are guessing which strains will be prevelant so they can use them in the flu vaccine.
And inevitably another mutation comes around that wasn't in the shot and people catch it despite getting the flu shot.
Why is this news?
Well, I know why so I guess that's a rhetorical question

But in a way don't we want the virus to mutate? This is one hundred percent spot on.
And by the way the first case in the US is in a FULLY VACCInATED person. But let’s keep mandating the vaccine and blaming the unvaccinated for the fact that the pandemic is raging worse a year later WITH the mandated vaccine than before there was one. Great job Biden and Hochul!

Yep. I now know 2 people who were vaccinated in the spring who were tested and have 0 antibodies.
So unless you got a booster, you are most likely no longer protected anyway.
But that vaccine card still works to getcha in that Broadway play where for the bargain price of $300 you can watch Hamilton with a mask on for 3 hours!

It’s out of control now. My husband is convinced we’re going to have another shutdown. I told him “ ummmm…. Every.single.virus. has mutations. That is how virus’s work. Are we going to be shutting down at every variant? .”and what happens when they run out of the Greek alphabet. Are they going to name variants like they name hurricanes? . People have lost their minds. I see it on Facebook too the stuff people are spewing. They really have gone off the deep end. Its a virus. It’s not going anywhere. At this point it’s time to learn to live with it and move on. It’s been almost 3 years already.

Exactly. That was my point yesterday. People are afraid of this and talks of mandates but not for Delta which seems to have been worse.

While I wouldn't put it past Hochul, I still don't really think we will shutdown. I think absolute worst case scenario is a statewide mask mandate, which I would take over another shutdown. I just don't think people would stand for it this time. The ONLY way I could see it is if hospitals begin to reach 100% capacity and there is a risk of them running out of beds.
Also, not that it overly matters, but to mybabyg, covid started in NY in March 2020. Definitely not three years ago.
I am not panicking and I am not concerned. I don't even pay attention to be honest...I just feel bad for doctors and nurses in hospitals who have suffered so much and now have the anxiety of all these patients filling up the hospitals again.

He was convinced with Delta too (and what we other ones were before that) People are already on Facebook saying the schools are gonna shut down when there is NO Mention of it anywhere! I know of people who are already cancelling Christmas and Christmas Eve dinners . And my mom knows someone who is having a baby shower for her daughter in APRIL and is freaking out over this variant. I told my mom by that time 20 others will have come and gone at that point. I don’t even follow what is going on anymore. And I even roll my eyes at my DH when he runs around with his “chicken little the sky is falling” attitude. It’s too much.
Edited : yes almost two years into this. I had 19 stuck in my head from the name. Ooops. It’s been a long day!

Covid was here before March as there are so many cases that people were sick with the exact same symptoms but yes only closing in on 2 years.

People are not listening to whom they can and can not see for holidays and other social things. So many things have opened up and there is no super spreaders so people are not believing the media and government anymore.

That is just ridiculous. People need to turn off the news and just live. My family didn't have Christmas and Christmas Eve last year and I thought it was ridiculous then. My friends and I still did NYE and Superbowl and everything else in between. To cancel Christmas for something that has ONE case now and NOT hospitalized is just ridiculous.
I would love to know how they even KNOW it is this variant as how much of a difference are these variants.

The only reason I can see there being talk of shutdowns is due to the expected lower efficacy of the current vaccines against this variant. I personally haven't heard anything about shutdowns, just restrictions. But at the same point not enough is known about the variant yet to invoke all of this fear and panic that is already here.
I feel another shutdown would be devastating to most of our mental states and there would be an uprising.

The BEST thing you can do is to turn off the news, not "what if" yourself into a frenzy and just go live your life. You'll be so much less stressed and happier if you walk away from the constant news and speculation of people who don't even have a clue anyway. I don't even pay attention anymore when it comes to COVID. Things will be what they will be and I continue to do what I can to stay healthy. Nothing else you can do.

I change the channel once they talk about Covid or vaccines.

Exactly. I just can't worry about the state of everything in the world anymore. I need to focus on myself, my family and the things that bring me happiness. The stressful stuff that I have ZERO control over gets kicked to the curb.

I am. My DH is. My mother in law is and my 14 yo DS is. Fully vaccinated. With boosters. There I answered that question for you. Now you can stop repeating that nobody will answer that question for you.
