That could be said for stomach bugs, common cold, strep anyone you come in contact with at anytime could have a contagious condition, Should we all live in a bubble? Most cases are mild and I know, it could be deadly to the elderly or the immune compromised but so could a stomach bug.
I’m not saying to live in a bubble. I’m saying if you have symptoms, get tested. Like if you have symptoms of the flu, you should be tested as well. Stay home when sick. There are urgent cares everywhere that can test you. It’s not like LI is some rural area where you need to drive 2 hours to get a test. There are urgent cares literally everywhere.
Positivity rates are currently exploding. I have kids sitting in my class who are sick and are still in school. I have to send them to the nurse since they obviously should not be in school.

I work with young kids for many years if every parent that cancelled due to the kids runny nose they would never get services. We seem to forget that there are non covid conditions that cause us to cough and have runny noses. Parents don't want to keep the kids home because then they will have to sit for 2 hours waiting for a test because everyone is testing constantly. I have never been tested for covid or the flu and believe me working with little kids snotty noses is a given

I work with HS students so they can stay home without someone watching them for a bad cough or nose that is dripping like a faucet. Even before Covid, you should’ve stayed home if you were sick.
Also, since there is a pandemic going on I do keep my kid home any time he is sick. If people stayed home when sick, guess what, other people wouldn’t get get that illness.

My son is always stuffy so since that's his baseline, I send him. He's on Allegra and they know he's contstantly stuffy (he's been tested) so unless he exhibits another symptom (and I don't count post nasal drip cough) he goes to school.
I feel that kids need to get sick though to some extent - they are going to be sick all the time once they can go back to school uinmasked with god knows what (typically most things my kids have gotten at school are worse than any child I know who has had covid...)

Exactly and as our kids are exposed to more and more of these things the less they get sick. Preschool they seem to be out every other week but over the years it lessens as our body does what it was designed to do.

Yup.
Last year, about a month after everything shut down, we went to a friends house because there were a lot of things going on and they needed our help. 2 days later DS 2 who hadn't gone anywhere - tested positive for strep. That was after 6 weeks going to 1 house where nobody seemed to have strep.

Well if they weren’t vaccinated they would have been really sick (hasn’t been proven) and they may not have received their boosters with unknown effectiveness vs this strain you know. (Sarcasm)
I do think the vaccine has helped but I agree - we need to shift focus to treatments and how to move on as Covid is going to live with us forever. And we also have to look at countries with low vaccine rates as it will continue to mutate and spread.

If people are utilizing fake cards to access public events of course the NYC vaccine mandates are not going to work and there will be outbreaks. It's not really proof that the vaccine mandates don't work as people are breaking them.
Maybe they would work but maybe they wouldn't work.
Fake vaccine cards is a criminal offense; a federal one at that.
I don't agree with the mandates but if people are going to willfully break rules so they can do to a show - no - nothing of this world will ever get better since only those people and what they want count.

Exactly. If it was proven that only the unvaccinated were getting sick and passing it along to unvaccinated then there would be a bigger issue at hand.
Now they are pushing the booster that maybe it will work with this new variant.
I am sorry but this is all just ridiculous. NO ONE gets the Delta variant anymore? Or the original one, whatever that was called. What happens with the next one since many don't want the booster and that means they are truly not vaccinated anymore or won't be soon.

The vaccine has been shown to reduce severe illness and death though.
And, if people followed the mandates...it would just be vaccinated people at the show.
I don't agree with the mandates but that doesn't mean I should be able to break the law to do something that I want to do - like see the Christmas show.
So, if someone doesn't believe in something = they should just do what they want and to h$ll with everyone else?
Why not just get in the car after a few drinks when I live just down the block. The likelihood that I could hurt someone else is slim. Or why not get fake inspection stickers for my car? It's easier and cheaper then getting a sticker.

That can't fully be proven though. You don't know exactly how any illness or virus will affect you. The people who have gotten covid vaccinated might have less symptoms than others but that doesn't necessarily mean if they were unvaccinated it would have been worse.
I truly thinks this is a person to person thing and your genes determine a lot of how you are affected.

Look at how many more times it's likely to die from CoVid being unvaccinated to that of those that are. Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine recipients had a mortality rate of 4.2 deaths per 1,000 vaccinated people per year after first dose, and 3.5 deaths after second dose.
The unvaccinated comparison group had a mortality rate of 11.1 deaths per 1,000 people per year.
Moderna COVID-19 vaccine recipients had 3.7 deaths per 1,000 people per year after the first dose, and 3.4 deaths after the second dose.
The unvaccinated comparison group had a mortality rate of 11.1 deaths per 1,000 people per year.
Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine recipients had 8.4 deaths per 1,000 people per year.
The unvaccinated comparison group had a mortality rate of 14.7 deaths per 1,000 people per year. Link

All my family can do is shoot up in a safe place in NYC because we’re not vaccinated but have natural immunity that counts for nothing. Way to go NYC.
Honestly I have no desire to go to the city anymore anyway. Until they clean up the crime and everything else I'll spend my money elsewhere.

It's very easy to get a fake card and trust me when I tell you, these restaurants aren't looking too closely- as long as the name on the card matches your ID you're in. They aren't in business to be the vaccine police. But that's not even the point...
It's not safe anymore with people getting stabbed, pushed on subway tracks, sucker punched.

All our friends in the NYPD warn us to just stay away for now as it's not safe.
And that's sad because 2 short years ago I felt 100% even alone at night.

If people are utilizing fake cards to access public events of course the NYC vaccine mandates are not going to work and there will be outbreaks. It's not really proof that the vaccine mandates don't work as people are breaking them.
Maybe they would work but maybe they wouldn't work.
Fake vaccine cards is a criminal offense; a federal one at that.
I don't agree with the mandates but if people are going to willfully break rules so they can do to a show - no - nothing of this world will ever get better since only those people and what they want count.
Here's a scoop- mandates or not, vaccinated people can still spread Covid to unvaccinated people.
That has been proven.
So it's not the fake vaccine cards that are making the mandates not work.

Why not just get in the car after a few drinks when I live just down the block. The likelihood that I could hurt someone else is slim. Or why not get fake inspection stickers for my car? It's easier and cheaper then getting a sticker.

So it doesn't matter if you are vaccniated and I am not- we can both spread it to each other at a Broadway show.
Plus at a Broadway show you are sitting with the almighty mask on in addition to that little vaccine card- so you should be 100% safe right?
Right now the vaccine is shown to help YOU. And only you.
So mandating it to eat in a restaurant is complete and utter bullshitt and everyone knows it

The people who are against the vaccine are so outspoken but those in favor of it are more quiet.
I have thought about why.
My thoughts are that those in favor of protecting themselves from a deadly virus are clearly of a higher intelligence and do not feel the need to fight with people who are too simple to make the smart choice for themselves.
Those who received the vaccine realize that they are safe. Yes, they can get the virus but the odds are in their favor that they will survive.
Anti vaxxers who choose to bargain with their lives as a tribute to some political affiliation or desire to protect their freedoms are well within their rights to do so.
Kids are not at risk ( for the most part). I do not believe kids should get the vaccine UNLESS the parents would like to.
Adults, it is literal Russian roulette, if you are over 35 and you choose not to get it you are taking your life in your hands.
I find it shocking but I have no opinion on it because it's up to each of us to protect our lives.
And for all anti vaxxers who respond viciously, I don't care, It is my freedom to have strong opinions just as you do. My opinion is that you are stupid. lmaoooo
