No dig on working moms AT ALL. I specifically stated everyone needs to do what's best for them and their family. In my case, being a SAHM was what was best but I understand that is a situation that not everyone would want.

Let's not start a working mom vs SAHM debate as it's unnecessary. I think everyone does the best they can for themselves and their kids. No question. That being said, WW constant digs at being a SAHM are just obnoxious. Don't assume because someone chose to leave their career means they sit home and do nothing, that's just ignorant.

I was actually replying to the post saying to Windy- come on if your husband could afford to have you stay home wouldn't you? Of course you would!
And in my case, the answer would still be no.
But no shade to anyone who does want that.
Different strokes/different folks!

Exactly. I can afford to stay home too and did for a period of time but decided that I wanted to go back to work. I only work part time from home as that's what works for me but I love my job. Okay, maybe I don't love it. But I like it a lot. so much so that I haven't gotten a raise in 4 years and I won't even ask for one because I'm afraid they will think I am too expensive and just let me go! Some people actually do like to work!

Not concerned at all. I do however wonder how no one can see that wearing masks seemed to be way more effective than the vaccine. I don't know anyone that caught covid when while wearing a mask every time they were around people outside of their home but I know a ton of people that were infected while vaccinated and forgoing the mask.

This is one hundred percent spot on.

And by the way the first case in the US is in a FULLY VACCInATED person. But let’s keep mandating the vaccine and blaming the unvaccinated for the fact that the pandemic is raging worse a year later WITH the mandated vaccine than before there was one. Great job Biden and Hochul!

Who is actually vaccinated at this point who was vaccinated when it first came out? No one will answer that so people who claim they are vaccinated might likely not be.

I am. My DH is. My mother in law is and my 14 yo DS is. Fully vaccinated. With boosters. There I answered that question for you. Now you can stop repeating that nobody will answer that question for you.

All have boosters? Anything from 2-6 months are said not to be vaccinated as that is how long they last.

I know the stats windy. All except my DS who is fully vaccinated since September. So as I said we are all fully vaccinated. Why so hard to believe?

Not hard to believe. Didn’t know the booster was available for everyone yet. But then I am not fully listening anymore honestly to the rules of who can get it at this time.
People who have 2 vaccinations are considered fully vaccinated though but again who knows if that is true even though they have a card to say they are.

Boosters are available to everyone. You said nobody would ever answer. Two of us now have. Fully vaccinated means received the vaccination dosage recommended. We have. The end.

No, I said no one ever answers how long the vaccinated will truly be vaccinated. People with 2 shots are now considered to be fully vaccinated. When will they be considered not vaccinated and be back to square one like any other unvaccinated person?

Someone who has had COVID and/or has been fully vaccinated will never be like "any other unvaccinated person" because our bodies have mounted an immune response to COVID that yours has not. Even if the vaccine efficacy wanes over time your immune system has "memory" so to speak and should be able to mount a better defense against the virus if one becomes sick.

There is no real proof of that. No one knows how their body will respond to any illness and to Covid vaccinated or not.

That's where you're wrong. There have been many articles regarding studies on hybrid immunity, immune response post COVID, etc if you wish to educate yourself. You might also want to read up on how immune systems work, how the vaccine works, and how being vaccinated or sick changes how your body responds to future infections.

As usual, you talk and talk and talk but with no real knowledge to back up anything you say.

Never mind. You aren’t worth it.

It's not worth it. She has an Admin assist CERTIFICATE from Suffolk Community College. That means she is medical doctor, specializing in infectious diseases AND a research scientist all rolled into one. We should all be taking GC's advice about how to eradicate and/or live during a pandemic which NONE of us, unless you are over 100 years old, has been through before. I mean really, why don't you understand that mommytodevin????

Wow, I didn't know you, or Hofstra or Mommy had medical degrees either.

I don't, but I don't proclaim too. You absolutely do. I have no idea about the other posters.

Ummm..I never proclaimed TO have one either.
Aren't you in Administration and a coordinator?

I know what the other 2 do. One hasn't used their degree for 13 + year and it ain't in the medical field.

The fact that you keep bringing up that one of us hasn't had to work in 13 years just SCREAMS jealousy. NOt sure why your crew can't see that. You mean to tell me that if your husband could work and make enough money so that you didn't have to work and you could stay home and parent your kids that you wouldn't have done that too? Do you think that it's a dig to say she is able to stay home and parent vs. go to work?

Ya, ok, skippy.

I'm going to be 100% honest here and I know this is not the topic- but then again- what IS the topic anymore anyway Chat Icon I would not want to stay home at all.
I could have. I still can.
No way in fuking hell.
I love my career. I am not cut out to stay home even a little.
Even on bad days.
I wanted to go back to work the week after DD was born.
I was hysterical crying daily that I couldn't do this whole stay home with a baby thing.
Going back to work at 8 weeks was the best thing for my mental health.
So while I don't begrudge anyone who does it- it is 100% not for me.
And I say that with no jealousy or sour grapes. It's the honest to God truth

But you don't dig at those who do with incessant degrading comments and passive aggressive digs. There's the difference between what you just stated as your personal opinion and WW's constant attacks and derogatory comments about SAHMs.

I think Nell's response was related to Hofstra's post. Her post came off as why would anyone want to work when they can have the opportunity to stay home, to be with their child. And that is not the case for all parents.

However, if you read Hofstra's post alone, it sounds like a dig on working moms. I don't think it was meant that way because it just seems like a mudslinging fest. I think Nell was just weighing in on the topic.

I was going to post something similar but decided to refrain.

Because she assumed that all working moms are only working for the money as at her first opportunity she jumped at never working again.

Jumped at what "opportunity"? I decided when I was very young that despite my chosen career I wanted to be home when I had children, my DH wanted the same as we both came from homes where our moms were home through us being in high school. There was no" opportunity" that I "jumped at". It was a mutual decision between my DH and I and one that came with financial sacrifices initially that we both were willing to make.

You really need to stop making ill informed, ignorant assumptions other people's lives. You couldn't be more off base every time you make a comment about me. At this point, you just sound mental.

BTW Hofstra, teachers in NJ make sh*t compared to teachers on long island so don't expect to jump back into your career at $80k. I know a lot of teachers in NJ and starting salary is closer to $50.

I think we're all exhausted!! Chat Icon

No you assumed that if I didn’t need the money I wouldn’t work as why would you ask that question then? You are backpedaling to Nell.

I didn't think you were replying to me, I just didn't want anyone to misconstrue my post and think I was taking any kind of dig at working moms. We both have it hard, parenting isn't easy whether you go to work or stay home with kids in your face all day.

It's not worth it. She has an Admin assist CERTIFICATE from Suffolk Community College. The fact that you keep bringing up that one of us hasn't had to work in 13 years just SCREAMS jealousy. NOt sure why your crew can't see that.

As well as yourself then as you assumed that I would quit too if I didn’t need the money. Why? Because you think that is what women do or should do?

As well as yourself then as you assumed that I would quit too if I didn’t need the money. Why? Because you think that is what women do or should do?

Again, I never mentioned money. Get your posts straight.

I didn't think you were replying to me, I just didn't want anyone to misconstrue my post and think I was taking any kind of dig at working moms. We both have it hard, parenting isn't easy whether you go to work or stay home with kids in your face all day.

I think we're all exhausted!! Chat Icon

No you assumed that if I didn’t need the money I wouldn’t work as why would you ask that question then? You are backpedaling to Nell.

I wasn't the one who said that to you, I believe it was mommy2devin. I don't care what decisions you have made in your life or why as you shouldn't care about mine.

Move on already. Stop obsessing over everything I do.

My bad, I apologize as it was mommy who did say that.

No worries. Thx for the apology.

Omicron - just in time for the holidays

Can't we have one post without people taking personal digs at each other. It is absolutely ridiculous.

And for what it's worth, I am a SAHM and thrilled with it. I nap, eat bon bons, watch General Hospital every day and "do lunch" whenever possible. Half my friends are working moms and half of them are SAHM moms and instead of comparing our lives we support each other.

Vaccinated? Are you required to wear masks all the time?

We’ve been getting emails pretty much every day since our first cold snap from school. And we had a positive in our office. He had lunch with a large group two days before testing positive and they all tested negative.

There were 5 confirmed cases now of Omicron in NY and everyone recovered at home so hopefully it is comparatively mild.

Yeah it's rampant in our schools right now. My daughter had a super close call with having to quarantine. Like one seat away. I thank the good lord she was in the right place and just missed having to stay home for a week and miss school. It's a lot of work to miss. Dodged a bullet on that one!!
