Providing Natural Science Education Services for Long Island residents of all ages, and engaging in native wildlife rehabilitation services.
ECSS: Sweetbriar Nature Center is a private not-for-profit, 501c3 corporation. Through education and examples, ECSS encourages responsible decision making, appreciation, and respect for the unique wildlife and ecosystems found on Long Island.
Sweetbriar Nature Center is situated on 54 acres of varied garden, woodland, field and wetland habitats on the Nissequogue River. Hundreds of species of plants and animals make homes here.
I've donated to them, great organization. A friend of mine has raised a bunch of money for them in the past.
My son did his Boy Scout Eagle project there. We finished two other projects there this year, and we're currently involved in another Eagle project. A lot of their cages, and smaller structures are Eagle Scout projects. It's fun walking around and seeing the name plates of who and when the projects were made.
When I was there earlier this month, another Troop was building a hand rail so that blind visitors could walk along one of the trails, and there will be Braille signs along the way, too. Very cool project.

There are a few local animal rescues that a donate to.

I donate monthly to St. Judes amd the ASPCA (those damn commercials got me  )
I will also donate throughout the year to random charities/causes I see people post about or read about.
