Re: If you don't want to vaccinate your kids...

I’m seeing A LOT of mainstream parents pulling their kids out of the districts and starting the process to homeschool. Back in 2019 when we lost our religious exemptions, many parents moved out of state too. I can also see the same happening with parents that don’t want to vaccinate their kids with the covid vaccine.

Ugh I am sick over this too because I am not at all prepared to give it to my children. And I do think that the mandate is coming very soon. By the 22/23 school year the latest. If I didn't think moving would be devastating to my kids I would relocate to South Carolina since we already bought a house there and love it. I'm just hoping there is enough push back state wide that we can buy a few more years and then maybe COVID will have subsided by then.

Same - except we plan on going even though my kids will be upset - as will I as I don’t want to start over.

I’m hoping we are in a better place overall next year though. And that more is known overall.

Re: If you don't want to vaccinate your kids...

I am praying it does not happen but I know it will. I’m thinking either by January or by next Fall. I cannot homeschool or move right now and honestly my daughter has expressed a huge concern about getting the shot bc a friend of hers had a severe reaction and is lucky to be alive. All I can do is hope that as time goes on parents continue to push back and the powers that be start listening to the actual science.

Re: If you don't want to vaccinate your kids...

I am in NJ. The local catholic schools are requiring masks, and have already said that if a statewide vaccine mandate occurs, they will follow it. There were multiple families that left our public school for the catholic school who have now returned to the public school. There are about fifteen families, and they are trying to protest. At the school board meeting the board politely suggested they could be given the materials to homeschool their children. They did not want that either.

We’ve been discussing this at length. We are absolutely not giving the vaccine to our children. CDC - read this

Hopefully it won't be an issue but if it does we will pull her out and homeschool.

Sadly we would move out of state. We have several areas already picked out. So now we wait…..

I imagine people will have no choice but to withdraw from public school. My sister in another state doesn't vaccinate her kids. She used religious exemption for a while. Then the school challenged her on that. So that only gets you so far.

I imagine most states will start requiring this like they require the chicken pox vaccine, etc.

Mine are older but I did NOT want them to be vaccinated as well as themselves. They had NO choice or they would have to do online school. Maybe that works for some people but most kids NEED in person classes to succeed.

I felt horrible for my youngest as they really did NOT want it but knew the choice.

Many in my district have spoke of like home school cooperatives where you hire a teacher to follow the home school curriculum and a bunch of people go in on it.
I just don't know if I could do that though.
I think my daughter would be fine with it if many of her friends were in it (because let's face it, that's all she really cares about, being with her friends), but I really want her to have the full REAL school experience too like we all had.
It's just a horrible situation either way.

The only thing that gives me hope is that if people un-enroll their kids, the district loses funding - and if enough people do it - it hurts everyone.

ETA - I am assuming the states that currently dont have mask mandates will not have vaccine mandates either.

As more is known I may consider but, DH had a horrible reaction and were not super-excited to give it to our kids (DH and I both have it but he doesnt want to get the booster).

Yeah ,I can't imagine for the life of me Florida having a vaccine mandate.
Didn't the governor ban vaccine passports for entry to businesses down there?
No way would he mandate it in schools.

I will probably give it to them (but I’m on the fence on it anyway). I am not going to homeschool no matter what. I can move but I don’t want to and honestly moving doesn’t guarantee it won’t happen in other states.
What happens if you move and that state does make it mandatory? You will move again.

I know chances are slim southern states would mandate it but you never know.

Those are not coops but more like pods. There are many ways of homeschooling and we’re all doing what we can Chat Icon.

Same. She is too young to get it now anyway (9) and if it were mandated for school then she’ll have to get it. I will not homeschool and moving doesn’t guarantee anything.

Agreed. I am not convinced they will mandate the vaccine for children any time soon. There would be an exorbitant amount of push back.

I watch main stream TV and any "medical expert" I have seen on TV has been very hesitant to promote the vax for kids. All I have heard them say is more data needs to be collected.

In the event they mandate it this year, I would have to consider a home schooling cooperative/pod or whatever they are called. I literally can not believe I just wrote that but I just am not comfortable with the idea of vaccinating them with this yet.

The thing that frightens me is that the governor mentioned in an article (in MSM) finding a way to mandate that school kids get vaccinated to protect the kids. I do hope there is enough pushback as well as many who are vaccinated, as well as those who are unvaccinated, feel uncomfortable vaccinating their children at this point.

Protect the kids. Please.
I'm trying to protect my child by NOT giving her this vaccine.
Who the fuk is she to tell me how to protect MY kid?
My anger as a parent is just boiling over right now.

This is where I'm at.

By the time we get anywhere close to a mandate I believe DH and I will *probably* be more comfortable with the vaccine for kids.

(Homeschooling is not an option for us for a whole slew of reasons.)

Homeschooling is not something I would consider and moving out of state is not an option.

I think I would vaccinate them if it was mandated, but I don't see that happening soon.
