for those that have direct deposit
does it go in the same day as payday?
is that a requirement?
i have a new job and there's a lag of many days. And it's not because i just signed up. I'm hearing that the CEO chooses not to sign off on it on payday but yet the physical checks are signed off by that CEO on payday

Yes always the same day as pay day or before if pay day falls on a weekend.

We both have direct deposit and it’s always available on the day of payday.
Except my husband if there is a holiday on any day that week payments are usually delayed by a day so instead of Thursday he gets paid Friday.

Same day, that’s the reason for direct deposit. For that you might as well go back to the Stone Age and get paper checks. You will probably get the $ faster since you can deposit checks with your phone.

I can’t remember how it’s handled when his payday is on an actual holiday like thanksgiving but for example since 4th of July was observed on Monday instead
Of getting paid on Thursday he got paid Friday.
Pretty sure my job pays me
The day before too if payday is a holiday

Is this a large company? I am surprised that you are having this problem. In other offices I've worked in I have had minor issues (like a single owned doctor's office or a mom and pop shop), but even then I think it seems like a Dept of Labor violation. But I have never been paid more than a day late. My sister once worked for an owner who didn't have the funds to pay the staff and it was a major issue.
But to your point, it may be your bank. Some banks take a little longer to process direct deposit. Some of my co-workers have complained that their direct deposit did not go through even though others received it in a timely fashion. It may be later in the day or the next day.

no it's small.
it seems like a violation to me too, i.e. i'm not being paid and others are via paper check so i'm being penalized!
i don't think it's the bank. i think there's something wonky going on in the company.
i'm starting my inquiries tho...
