This is splitting hairs. Dec 2019 or Jan 2020 does not really make a difference and isn’t news IMO. News would be if it was here in 2017 or something like that.
They have been telling us January/February for 15 months. People have assumed it was here longer then that.

Explain why this matters? We're a year and a half into all of this and coming out on the other side of the pandemic, finally. Whether the first people were sick with COVID in November or January really doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything this minute nor would've changed anything then. What month it showed up is just an irrelevant detail at this point.
If you don’t care, why do you keep posting to a thread you have no interest in?
Others are speaking of their experiences and seem to be interested. Not everyone agrees you with as hard as you don’t want to believe that.
And others have also said to you that this isn't news. You're harping on an irrelevant detail that is of no importance. COVID was already moving across the globe at the holidays, would it be shocking if it were here earlier? No. You're trying to make this bigger news than it is. There is nothing of value to be learned from this snippet you posted.
No more you post, the more you push the topic up.

Back in 2020 I read that it was suspected the first case was in the fall of 2019.. Sept, Oct.
It will probably be a long time before they trace the origin, if they ever do.

A lot of people knew it was here earlier once it was announced - as they were sick like as if they had the flu but tested negative. It's just odd that it came out now as news where so many people realized this already.
I think it might sound odd because it was never really confirmed. I even think it was even earlier. My SIL was pretty sick with typical covid symptoms in November. Super tired, a cough that wouldn’t go away, headaches. She was tested for flu and it came out negative.

ITA as while I can’t remember the exact timing, I lost my smell and taste for close to 2 weeks which is odd for me. I know I was still working in the office so before March 2020.

Everytime my DH gets a script for routine bloodwork they automatically order an antibody test. I guess they are doing it as a new thing now if you are having blood drawn anyway. So far he's come up negative. But I always say to him, imagine you have antibodies and had no idea

Aww thanks. If no one is interested, I get it and won’t get upset. There are many threads that never get posts.
Funny as many things I post, I post elsewhere and get a good reaction. I have one friend who loves when I keep her up to date with news. Never thought it was a bad thing as some miss news and I have never been told to go away and stop telling them about things they are not interested in. Maybe they are just not rude people.

For real...it's a little creepy at this point it's like she's your biggest fan  I mean if there is a poster I don't agree with that keeps posting I would just move on but thats me. The constant debate is so weird to me..
Anyway I'm not surprised about COVID being here earlier. I know a few people who got really sick with pneumonia around that time and even had to be hospitalized. I wonder if my little DD had it..she got so sick the week before Christmas 2019..her cough was horrible and she had such a high fever but her Flu test came back positive so I assumed that was that.
I think they need to do some digging and see if there was a surge of hospitalizations prior to February 2020 for people with COVID type symptoms. How many of those people died, how many recovered, how were they treated, how are they doing now, etc etc? Age groups, co-morbibities, etc. Do those people have antibodies?? So much info they can use to discover the deeper origins of this virus.

Been saying that since the beginning when I knew people, my husband, one who was in bed for days.
My Husband's aunt always healthy ended up in the hospital with supposed pneumonia December 2021 was put on a vent and died. I'm sure that was covid.

I think that is why the majority of people did die, because of being put on vents. That is why the numbers have gone down.

Yeah - I guess I worded it wrong but I can’t believe that it took so long for this to be confirmed news while most of us knew it was the case.
You will see more and more things will eventually come out once things are reopened and people are past this. They will be that kid who is afraid to tell the parents because of the backlash but knows if they wait awhile, the parents would be over it and not as mad.

I can't imagine putting my kids in a clinical trial either but I guess we should be "thankful" for those that do? I believe in science but I certainly don't want to be patient number one. lol
Last summer I was at my endodontist and he was chomping at the bit to get into the clinical trials for the vaccine and had no hesitation about it for either himself or anyone in his family who wanted to participate. Again, I'm glad there are people who are willing but for myself, I'd be too nervous to participate in any clinical trials.

Unfortunately, the only way to know how anyone will react to vaccines or medicines is for them to be tested on humans, even little ones. At least studies are far more controlled than back in the day but I'm with you, I'd never sign my kids up for any clinical trials.
