Mandatory Covid Vaccines for Colleges
I’m against it, just curious where others stand. And if those who quickly rolled up their sleeves for themselves are as quick to allow their children to?

Do you mean just all vaccines? I remember when I started university, I had to get my MMR or I couldn’t go. This isn’t anything new.

DS is already scheduled.
ETA: Just by the way the 2nd doses were scheduled, I got my first one before DS, but he'll get his 2nd dose before I do.

It's the same as any other vaccine. My DD requires a flu vaccine every year in order to attend school. Why would Covid be any different?

the risk of getting covid outweighs the risk of the vaccine, as theres no live virus in it. I would have no reservations in terms of my children

An elementary school is requiring a flu shot?
My DD doesn't need a flu shot for public school...it's optional
Or is this like a nursery school/day care?

Mandatory Covid Vaccines for Colleges
I have no problem with it. Students living on campus are in tight quarters and all easily communicable diseases that have vaccines should be required.
Once the vaccine is available for children, my DS will be getting it.
Many of my students are 16+ and were already able to get the vaccine since they work at grocery stores. My friends with older kids made appointments for their teens the day it opened up for 16+.

I don't think it should be mandatory. I think it is ridiculous to start posing mandates on this vaccine. They don't even have mandates on HPV or even the Flu vaccine.
However, the decision would be up to my child if he was in college since they would be of legal age to decide. At a certain point they have to start making their own decisions.

Same here, I know it was mandated when my son entered school in Kindergarten but that was the only year and I am not sure if they changed that.

When my son was in daycare, which is a private school it was mandatory to get a flu shot. Colleges technically are private schools.
For their public schools it's not required, but I still have them get the flu vaccine anyway.

Personally, I feel that their is more of a risk getting the vaccine vs Covid in that age group. The major thing with the vaccine is that you aren’t guaranteed you won’t get Covid but that you won’t be hospitalized. This age group rarely gets hospitalized so I just don’t see the point.
But it’s more of a pick your poison choice....
Getting a virus that we don’t know long term side effects
OR
getting a vaccine that we don’t know the long term side effects.

Good point, I always wondered why they made me show proof for my son in Kindergarten. I didnt realize it was probably because he was in private school. it is odd because that was the only year I had to show proof.

It is. It's optional in public K-12 schools as well.
I never had a flu shot in my life and I went to college.
In fact I don't recall college asking me for any vaccination records- which is good because my pediatrician who held those records was long gone by the time I went to college.

Good question. I know now for in school classes they require you to get a Covid test every once in awhile (don’t know the exact timing) at least for one school I am familiar with.

What’s with imposing mandates for this vaccine?!? Seriously! A whole lot of people have real problems and concerns with this vaccine already, we’re not just talking about someone not getting it just for the heck of it. Why everything is becoming a mandate?? Can they live it up to the family instead?? I can see from a mile away that they’ll try to mandate it for schools as well, it’s a no brainer.
And for the flu and HPV vaccines, u can thank Hoylman and Dinowitz (both NY legislators) for trying their hardest to pass into law mandates for these vaccines in schools last year but because of covid, they weren’t able to. Rest assure though that they’ll try again and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit that they’d try to make the covid vaccine mandatory for schools too as soon as they get the chance!

I never said commuter students would be exempt. I would think the same rules apply to them as they most likely come I contact with students who live in dorms. I just meant many live in close quarters which means that it can easily spread on college campuses among all students.

They were trying to pass HPV vaccine as a mandate? I find that so odd since it’s for STDs.
Is the chicken pox vaccine required for schools?
