To say that politics isn't playing a role in this pandemic is naive. Both sides did it, and actually continue to do it.
We desperately need term limits for NYS!

And now, now that all the nursing home residents in NY are fully vaccinated, we are still not allowed to go visit our loved ones.
Coming up on a year that we cannot see our elderly family members.
The vaccine was supposed to be the way out.
We'd wear masks and stay distanced as well to go see them.
However, that is still not good enough for Cuomo. He wants to keep them in prison with no family contact. It's honestly cruel and unusual punishment.
All of a sudden now, when they are vaccinated, he's worried about their safety?
After he killed thousands of them in the early days and covered it up?
A true piece of shit...

and have you noticed that as soon as the nursing home report came out, he starts announcing sports can have spectators, he wants to reopen theaters, etc.
He's doing anything to keep the nursing homes out of the news and for the media to focus on that stuff instead.

ITA. I don't know why people even try it in this day and age. There is a record of everything.
Not to mention that it's probably not even necessary - we're a forgiving public when it comes to most of our public officials. If he had owned up to handling it wrong he could've gotten past this.
Hopefully he will be held accountable.
If he runs again, I look forward to supporting a primary challenger.

The guy is a disgrace. He tried to get recognition when he wasn’t even protecting the most vulnerable in his own state, forget about imposing draconian rules that are still affecting many! But sure he had time to write a book and even got an Emmy. What a POS!

Agree! I remember at the beginning when there were talks about what was happening in the nursing homes and they quickly got dismissed and labeled as conspiracy theories. Now his Democrat friends want to come out to criticize him and demand investigations??? Where were they when it was first happening?? Coming out NOW and pointing the finger at him, make them as much of a POS as Cuomo is. They’re not fooling anyone.

Can someone tell me what the issue is here? I don’t mean that snarky but I thought this was old news and I am definitely missing something.
I thought he already said he was told to move those in nursing homes back there at the beginning which is why he did that.
So they weren’t up front about how many really died and that’s why everyone is so angry. Or that it just bringing up again that so many were sent back to nursing homes?
Also what should have he done?
I’m not defending him I’m just trying to understand the issue.

He deliberately understated numbers and withheld information about nursing home deaths from the legislature, media and public after repeated requests for it because he wanted to avoid a federal investigation. He had the means to send patients to the Javits or the ship but in my opinion he did not do that because those were federally provided and would not bring in money to NY. People can deny it all they want but NY hospitals did indeed receive funds for covid patients.
He can try to hide behind his “following federal guidance” excuse all he wants but the fact is that during the past uear he was totally fine ignoring federal guidance in other ways when he did not agree with it. He did not have to send more covid patients into vulnerable nursing homes. He said “covid was already there.” Really? So it is ok then to increase the people spreading it?
