For those that know people with covid...
Just some food for thought. It's pretty hard on a family, especially with young kids, to have to have sick family members and very likely two sick parents with young kids to take care of, to have to quarantine for covid. Some people have sent dinner or dropped off food. Someone just dropped off some cookies. Those things have really meant a lot to me. Also the checking in to see how we are doing. If you know a family going thru this it's a nice gesture to drop off something like craft kits for the kids or a good book. Some food so they don't have to think about breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's easy to "survive" with amazon prime, instacart, door dash etc. so clearly we don't NEED anything but it just makes you feel so much better. I am actually quite surprised at the people who have been checking in and dropping things off and those friends who I thought were close who have barely said boo. I think it's because a lot of people tend to think it's our own fault and so it's just our problem.

That is great and I think others should think at other times too as any illness is hard when both parents are down and especially to single parents who might not have a second person to help out.

Right now, my brother and his family and my best friend all have COVID. They all live in NYC and I do feel helpless and useless not being able to help them out. Neighbors have been dropping off dinner for them and they are so appreciative of that.
Also, I don't think people aren't pitching in because they think it's your own fault. I think people either a. don't think or b. are just staying away out of fear.

For those that know people with covid...
Yes, this is very true. When dh and I had it, we very much appreciated when people dropped off food for us, as well as when parents of our kids' friends organized times for their kids to video chat with our kids to keep them entertained for a little while.

I'm going to be honest with you- I prefer restaurant meals to home cooked meals. Every time. So I'd have loved it! LOL

Omg you are so right.
My neighbors , my sis in law , my friends. So many helped and dropped off food for us. My neighbor cooked for us an entire week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I now have every piece of her Tupperware lol we felt so loved.
I hope you guys get through it quickly and feel good soon.
ETA: during the lock down, I was sending my nieces little gifts through Amazon like 3x aweek. It kept them busy and excited for new cute toys.

Great post! It is hard when everyone is sick and you have to be isolated. I’m glad you got help and support!
I went food shopping for my cousin twice when she had it last year at the height of the pandemic. Single mom.
I also dropped off medicine ball tea and coffee from Starbucks for my friend who had it in November. Some other ideas!

My best friend from college sent us dinner last night from the local pizza place and honestly just to not have to think about it for a night was so incredibly nice. I cooked three meals a day for a week straight and I had just had it by last night. Not to mention preparing every meal on a tray for my husband while he was confined to the room and then having to bring everyone three isolation meals and snacks etc. I have been running myself ragged!

I couldnt agree with you more!! It meant so much to me to have friends and family drop off home cooked meals, cookies, activity kits , and order out for us. The offers to run errands was amazing and the waving hello from the outside window when they dropped stuff off was special too. Even just a text to check in was amazing.
It is super hard to battle the virus, with kids
at home who are doing remote school bc of quarantine, managing work and the house.. delivered Meals took such a huge load off and made us feel cared for too!
Lulu- how are you and your kids feeling? IS your husband on the mend? My husband got it the worst out of all of us too. Hope you all feel better soon.
I saw your post about not knowing how you got it too but thinking you got it from the car. That must be frustrating. Family members in the medical field have said that the car is the most dangerous scenario in terms of spread.

That’s nice people send things. I wouldn’t even think to do it because of all the options available now. So I wouldn’t feel discouraged if your close friends don’t send anything, they probably assume like I did that you have what you need.
My close friends had covid. Honestly I sent a text or two here and there. We were so wrapped up in our jobs/ working from home, kids school....one virtual for a couple days, and their activities. You have to realize that covid has turned everyone’s lives upside down and some people just don’t have their stuff together right now and it’s not that they don’t care, they are trying to get thru the day to day and it just slips your mind that so and so has covid....especially when so many have it.
Hope you’re doing better.

If you want to help out you can have takeout delivered from somewhere nearby. Or have groceries delivered - milk, cereal, snacks for the kids so they don't have to worry about it. You don't have to drive all the way out there to help if they're far.
OP - that's nice of your family and friends to help out. Feel better soon!
