It was a simple question. The poster is not a nurse and wanted to know who is eligible in a hospital for the vaccine. The only people I know are doctors and nurses getting it. Nothing more than that :)
Each hospital is distributing at their discretion, since in different settings certain people may be at more risk than they would be in a different setting. It also depends on hop many they have & how many staff members they have.
It is an interesting question--my husband works in a hospital & I keep asking him for updates. It has more to do with potential contact than job title.They started with people who work in the Emergency room & ICUs, I believe.
I assume that would include, for example, the security guards in the ER.
All hospital employees will have the option to get it. They just aren't getting all their doses at once, so they will just keep moving down the line.
He is primarily remote, so he is a the bottom of the list, but they have told all employees they will have the option.
Like OP's hospital, it was also well received.
It’s well received at my hospital too! I think our remote employees are last to get offered as well. I work directly with pediatric and adult patients on all floors, psychiatry and medicine and do have covid + patients hence the early eligibility. I think by the end of this week they will have vaccinated roughly 4600 employees which is amazing

Vaccine - update
Thank you so much for keeping us updated. I’m happy you are doing well. I’m looking forward to the day I can receive it as an non risk middle age person. And looking forward to my parents being able to get it over the next few months.

Vaccine - update
My husband got his vaccine on Saturday. The only thing he said is his arm hurt almost like a tetanus shot the next 2 days after. He said he didn't even feel the shot and the needle was small.
Other than that he feels fine. Gets his second shot 1/28.

i got the vaccine last week. The injection site swelled up really bad. I had a very large hard welt that was itchy. Nobody else that got it with me had any reaction at all.

I think this is a totally normal response to a vaccine and a good sign your body is reacting.
I can’t wait to get it but I know realistically I will be last in line (which I agree is the right thing). Hoping it gets approved for kids soon.

I know it’s not the same vaccine but that did happen to me this year with the flu shot. Never happened before and I’m only allergic to dust and recently cats/dogs.
Could also be an allergic reaction to something you developed later in life and not even aware of. 4 years ago I found out I was allergic to dogs and cats. Never was before.

Wonder what it is that you were allergic to. Not sure if I posted the ingredients here but you can look them up and see what is in the vaccine and it could be one of them :(

There have been reports of people developing allergies after being vaccinated when they have never had a history of allergies before.

i called my dept of health and was told that the closest estimate for my category (other essential workers: transportation and logistics) to get vaccinated is late winter (late february / early march).

I got my vaccine. Feeling fine except for a sore arm, which I expected. So nice to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Vaccine - update
DH got the Moderna vaccine last week, no side effects other than mild fatigue that went away 45 min after the shot. Im waiting for my 70+ parents to get it so they can sleep at night, they have major cabin fever being unable to go out anywhere except for necessities and car joy rides.

I am not sure what you mean by “go out like normal”..the data is still pending on whether vaccinated people can trransmit the virus or not....and 10 months into this, we don’t know how much asymptomatics are contributing to the spread.DH is a first responder so after he gets the 2nd injection in 3 weeks, he will still need to wear masks and socially distance. The relief is knowing if he contracts Covid,his chances of getting severely ill are significantly reduced...I cant wait to get the vaccine, the more people do, the faster we can end this awful nightmare and get closer to normal.

OP- are you scheduled for your second dose? I saw in the UK they are having problems with the logistics getting the second dose out in 4 weeks’ time. Some patients are being rescheduled for 12 weeks, but the vaccine is not designed for that long of a space.

As of now, the US is following the 21-28 day second dose.
Hospitals by me are looking for volunteers to help administer vaccinations (dentists, tried nurses, pharmacists, etc).

I know two people who have gotten the vaccine.
My family member who is a nurse received it last week. She was lightheaded after the first dose and achy took some pain killers the first day. The shot area was itchy. I just spoke with her today and she is experiencing some episodes of chills and aches.
My friend in the UK took it two weeks ago and has had really no symptoms. She works in a hospital.

My understanding is that it if you go past the window it doens't decrease the effectiveness when you get the 2nd dose, it is just that you are only partially protected for say, 12 weeks in stead of 4.
At least that's wha tmy DH's hospital told them, but they are tryig to stick to the 4 week schedule.
If you get htem too close together, that is suppposed ot make it not work correctly, but not the other way around.

I think many don’t know they have allergies to certain things and I find this quite scary to take a vaccine that says you need to be where you can be revived. Other places that are not equipped will be eventually distributing the vaccine.

Well, if they went to the doctor and got regular check-ups even when they weren’t sick, this might help  .
