Ideas for a Sweet 16 in early December

Due to covid numbers most of our original ideas and plans wont pan out, even a tent in the yard with some friends seems too risky.

Anyone have any unique ideas of ways to celebrate with even a few close friends?

Right now we have a small family dinner planned, so any fun ideas to jazz that up are welcome too!

Not looking for lectures or advice to do nothing, I'm trying to find an acceptable way to make this special.

Would she be willing to wait until next year or does she only want to do it now?

What types of things is she into? Does she want to have friends over too? Many companies offer mobile stuff now. You can have someone come for a paint night to your house, food truck with something special or ice cream truck, maybe even someone that does nails and have a mini spa day at home? Does she like to cook/ bake? Can do something like that at home with a chef?

Following. My daughter turns 21 on January 1st. For years she has been imagining going to a bar and having her first legal drink while counting down to her birthday and sadly, none of that will happen. We are going to have only her close friends at home, but I'm looking for ways to make it special.

Re: Ideas for a Sweet 16 in early December

i like the idea of a food truck.

my cousin had an ice cream truck come for her daughter's high school graduation party, last year. it was a huge hit with everyone... even the older relatives.

there are so many niche food trucks out there, these days.

i still like the idea of a tent... maybe with less guests.

i'll poke around the google to see if something jumps out at me.

There are mobile salons that can come to you. Or you can go to American Dream Mall in NJ. They have indoor ice skating, amusement park and water park. Thats where we are taking our 5 year old the end of this month

It's probably so expensive but what about one of those inflatable pubs?

I saw there is a company called Hibachi-2-u or something like that where they come and cook for you. That might be fun. Maybe one of those murder mystery dinners where everyone comes as a character?

For the one that said your daughter is turning 21, could you do an indoor bar crawl at your house? Like transform each room into a different type of bar? Like you could do an Irish bar, a dance club bar, a karaoke bar, a country western bar? Do a signature drink in each bar? I would put the dance club and karaoke towards the end! Chat Icon

Yes sorry the inflatable pub idea was meant for the 21 year old! Not the Sweet 16! Should've mentioned that!

If this were for an adult party it's not that bad because you would save a lot by being able to serve your own drinks rather than paying for them at the restaurant! I think this is a cool idea!

Thanks for all the ideas! I know a friend whose neighbors all chipped in for the Hibachi dinner and said it was a lot of fun when it was warmer outside. I'm still entertaining the tent in the yard for small gathering but have to see how things play out. Also considering a trip to the city. Its hard to delay it because there is really no end in site to this way of living right now.

That may not be a bad idea. Maybe go to the top of the Empire State Building or walk up the new "honeycomb" structure on the west side, and/or go see the Rockefeller Christmas tree. You just have to see if people are comfortable with that.
