8 year old niece
Ok, so I am going to start holiday shopping.
What are the "in" things for an 8 year old girl?
She is pretty smart and she is girly.
are barbies too young for her? I have bought her barbies in the past and i know she loved them.
I also bought her an american girl doll one year for her birthday but never got feedback if she actually was in love with it.

My niece is 7 and is obsessed with the Disney channel movies- Descendants and Zombies. And there's a toooooon of barbie dolls of them. She's actually gotten my DD really into them, too. But no, I don't think she's too old for Barbie. If she's into it, they have those doll heads where you can do their hair/make-up. Board games are generally my go-to if I'm unsure of a kid's tastes. Age appropriate puzzles.
ETA: There's also a lot of science kits... you can grow crystals or a terrarium or learn coding basics...

My 8yo wants the color reveal barbies right now but they seem weird to me. She's into the LOL OMG dolls, specifically the remix ones. She likes crafts so construction paper and a nice tape dispenser with a billion rolls of tape is a favorite gift. A wallet, a globe, a geode kit, fuzzy onesie pjs, graphic novels.

My niece is a little older but last Christmas I got her a subscription to Doodle Crate by Kiwi Co. A new craft comes every month. I was only doing it for a few months but she loved it so much I extended it for the whole year. I believe you can search their subscription boxes by age.

Slime, LOL dolls, the 80's accessories for the American Girl doll, accessories for her (scrunchies, mini backpacks, purses) jewelry. My girlie girl is very into shoes, boots, clothes etc.
She also loves those big Our Generation sets from Target for the AG dolls. Movie Theater, School etc. Her parents may hate you for that though as they take up a lot of space.

My niece is that age and very much into crafts...bath salt making, little felt things that look like those shopkins things....fairy garden making kit, unicorn slime...

I just got this for my almost 7 year old nieces bday (it’s right before Xmas)
She loves crafting so figured this can be another way for her to show her art

I have a few 7-9 year old girls in the family. They are into legos. They also like Descendants/zombies as someone else suggested. Older kids arts and crafts are also popular.

My daughter is into friends LEGO sets and the interactive pet toys (present pets, scruff a luv). She also likes Nintendo switch.
If you don’t know her that well I think you can’t go wrong with a craft kit. Especially if we are trapped indoors this winter it’s a good way To pass the time.
