driveway installation issues

Has anyone had a new driveway put in and not happy? Besides other issues of where it was placed, we first started driving on it this week and I notice right when you pull in, instead of a gradual incline, it's almost like a sudden bump and my car bottoms out. If I called contractor, I am not sure if this is an easy fix without ripping driveway out. I never thought of this issue coming up. Now I see all my neighbors have a very gradual incline vs mine.

Are you referring to the bump from the street itself to your sidewalk apron? If that's the case then the street is probably too low from wear and tear and they should add blacktop to ramp out the street side more.

I don't have a sidewalk, just curb. As soon as you enter beyond my curb, right after asphalt driveway starts, it's at more of a bump/incline than there used to be vs more gradual going up. It never was a problem before new driveway so it's the way the slope was placed at very beginning of driveway. Never had any idea this would be an issue.

I know nothing about installing driveways but we had ours done not too long ago and there are no issues like this. That would drive me nuts though, especially if it wasn't an issue before. Have you reached out to the company that did the install? I think they should fix that issue free of charge if it wasn't one you always had.

I am unsure how this can be fixed, but I have to do something. Who every thought of something like this until after doing it. Ugh.

Idk. We had a concrete driveway that had a steep incline like that and we ripped up and did blacktop and the blacktop was better. No hard incline. I would call and ask, there may be a reason they had to because that sounds like a hard thing to do by mistake...

It sounds like they just did a poor job and might have to completely redo it.
Your car bottoming out is not normal and they should do this at their expense.

Like I said, as soon as you enter driveway, there is a big steep incline like bump. None of my neighbors are like this. Just pulled out and in and the bottom of the front of car hits driveway going in and out while approaching. I have a picture of my old driveway and it's just gradual decline going down and nothing like this. I hate having to deal with this now. As much as I needed a new driveway, I should have just left it alone.

Can you post a picture of what it looks like? This is pretty bizarre to have such an incline where your car bottoms out, if it's not coming from the street.

I guess best way to describe it is when it gets close to curb/street, its an abrupt slope vs it used to be gradual from top of driveway to bottom.

Ugh..they came and redid it and now there are roller marks on the driveway. It also is flattened out where it sloped up but toward the pavers on side rises up. I can live with that. Just not the way it was supposed to be. Did anyone have a problem with a roller mark? Cant believe all the problems this has been.

Sounds like a poor installation job. We just had our driveway redone with pavers and I specially made sure to discuss the slope to ensure it was made more gradual than it was.

What do you mean that towards the pavers on side it rises up?

ETA: There should definitely not be any marks from the machinery. I'd have them back to fix it and make sure it's good before they leave.

I have cambrige pavers laying flat as a border. As the asphalt gets close to the pavers, there is a slope up of the asphalt. Obviously the pavers should have been put lower in the ground. Disappointing job.

I had my driveway done in May. I was given a little "instruction" booklet that says "On a newly rolled asphalt driveway, you may see roller lines - in time they will wear in." I didn't really see any on my driveway back when it was first done, but hopefully what you are seeing will disappear
