Taxes are for the dumb apparently
I thought I saw he had a $7,000 hair maintenance deduction of some sort lol then I thought to myself it can't be. It must have been a dream. So I googled it. I was wrong. It was $70,000?!!!! Ha! What a joke.

My husband is self employed and our accountant takes advantage of every deduction available to us. With that said, shouldn't people be more mad at the laws and not him using said loopholes. Plus, do not think that he is the only one who does that cause its not and he even admitted to it.
It's one of the things he said he alone could fix. Instead, he added more loopholes for the wealthy. So yeah, I'm pissed about how the laws are set up and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I've never heard regular people walking around saying their happy Amazon pays no taxes either. Not my business but I'm guessing your husband pays more in taxes than our president too.

I think the scarier issue is that he owes like 400 million in loans that are coming due soon, that supposedly he doesn't have the resources to pay, and we don't know who he owes it to. They say he could be influenced by anyone and we don't even know who. That is scary.
Tax loop holes are ridiculous and I hope that when they investigate further they find fraud, which seems like a real possibility.

I don't understand what everyone is so upset about. Is he actually doing something illegal? If he is following the laws then people can't be mad. I can bet your ass that there are plenty of other people using the same loopholes.

From everything released so far, it totally looks like tax fraud, not tax avoidance. This is coming from many tax experts who have seen the public information so far.
What's not debatable about "legal/illegal" is the fact that he owes $400 million dollars. That means that he can be compromised. You can't get a Secret clearance if you owe that kind of money. And that's for low-level people who don't have a lot of secret info, and don't have power. Large debts are a big red flag when applying for secret or top secret clearance.

Presidents are supposed to disinvest so as not to be biased.
He wrote the tax law. He literally created his own loopholes. People on unemployment pay taxes!

This is such a deflection instead of saying "hold people accountable for doing shady shitt" you say "blame the people who allow us to do shady shitt."
Committing fraud and tax evasion is VASTLY different from utilizing tax deductions to ones legal benefit.
And if you're a Republican, you can blame yourselves for continuing to vote for the people who allow for the manipulation of tax laws and repeals of taxes for the wealthy while the poor and middle classes get taxed out the wazoo.

People are confusing loopholes with tax fraud. Many businesses use loopholes to write off whatever they can, but Trump has committed tax fraud. He wrote off almost $100K in hair and makeup, which you legally cannot do. He paid $700K in consulting fees to Ivanka when she was already earning a salary. Sorry, but you can't funnel money to your child like that and get to write it off. He wrote off millions in losses to obtain a $73 million refund! This is the battle he is having with the IRS. If you think nothing is wrong with any of this and everyone does it, then I'm sure the IRS would like to have a word with you and take a closer look at your tax filings.
It's all a shell game when it comes to Trump's finances. He has over $400 million due in the next couple of years to God knows who, and he doesn't have the funds to pay his debts. The only reason he is running for re-election is to use the presidency as protection from legal prosecution and to continue to use this country as his own personal piggy bank. The POTUS doesn't pay any taxes but yet wants to take away people's healthcare, food stamps and social security is such a slap in the face. He goes off at every chance he gets about what is wrong with this country and blames others, but he hasn't made any contribution to the country's infrastructure, education system, military, etc.
Trump is the problem, not the solution.

And people are STILL planning on voting for him. The old republican men that I work with are still going on about him being a smart business man who knows how to work the system. Like???  How are some people so brainwashed? I truly don't get it.
Meanwhile, his supporters are having parades and driving around waving big trump flags. This isn't some sporting event or ticker tape parade! Our lives are at stake. Wake TF up! Donald Trump cares about exactly one person, and it certainly isn't you or me.

The lawful loopholes can be put aside.
Let's deal with the substance of the SDNY case, the Emoluments Clause, any unlawful behavior that is discerned, and the debt as a compromising factor.
I would like to see supporters deal with them one at a time and intelligently.
We don't have to discuss lawful loopholes at all.
At least, not until we start to close them.

Tax laws aren't "stupid" they are manipulated by the government for the benefit of the rich.
I'm not rich so i take advantage of every loophole possible. Some people just don't know those loopholes while others, especially if you are self employed, know many of them. And its not manipulating anything when its totally legal to do.

But...he also pushed through huge tax reform that continues to benefit the 1%.
We don't know if he is guilty of tax evasion as of yet. We don't know if those "loopholes" were actually applied within the frame work of the code. Is he misstating information? Did he inflate assets to obtain greater access to debt? How can he be so rich yet have some much loss for so long? You can only depreciate assets so much.
Therein lies the difference...some "play" with the code because it's easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.
